No Season 9 For Smallville and Why

Despite good ratings for this "final" season of Smallville, of all things to keep it from moving forward, actor availability may be the issue for the show continuing into a 9th season.

It seems that it's up to Tom Welling and if he is willing to return. Regardless, show runner Darren Swimmer is ready to create a series finale in the event Welling doesn't return.

Swimmer says that we won't see tights in the show because there is a potential conflict with the big screen franchise.

I'm thinking, what conflict? Smallville is carrying the franchise. How can that be an issue NOW, when it was previously recanted as nothing but a rule by the previous show runners?

On the bright side of things, The Toyman is showing up later this season. This should be interesting. I really hated him.

UPDATE: There's news on Smallville getting a 9th season. See it HERE.
