BAGGAGE BATTLES

SEASON PREMIERE: Wednesday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT and 8:30 p.m. ET/PT

(Note: New episodes will continue to premiere on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT)

In the first all-new premiere of season two (airing at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT), Laurence and Sally Martin travel to Billy Leroy and Mark Meyer's backyard of Brooklyn, NY to compete for valuable international freight.  Items up for auction include a solar panel from a water heating system, a mystery sculpture and a solidly-built wooden crate with undisclosed contents.  With bids ranging from $200 to $1700, the auction experts are out to out-bid each other and win the highly-desirable goods.  Then on the second all-new episode (airing at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT), Laurence and Sally Martin, Billy Leroy and Mark Meyer are out to test their experience and luck by gambling on these genuine – and not so genuine – historical items at the Boston Estates Auction.  The bidding gets underway, and the first big item on the auction block is a document announcing George Washington's death.  Other items up for bids include a musket, a uniquely-crafted saw and documents from the 1700's.  After the auction experts win their respective bids, they take their historical items for examination and appraisal.  And one of the auction specialists goes home with over $4500 in profit!

Series Synopsis:  "Baggage Battles" provides a glimpse into the very profitable business of bidding, buying and reselling unclaimed property by following three teams of auction experts who travel to some of the most important auctions, where their bids are based on sight-unseen instincts.  Season two of "Baggage Battles" brings back the savvy auction experts viewers met in the first season:  Laurence and Sally Martin, a married couple who co-own Studio Antiques in El Segundo, California; Mark Meyer, a young entrepreneur in the auctioning business from Long Island, New York; and New York City's Billy Leroy, owner of the iconic Billy's Antiques and Props, one of the last eclectic props and antique stores.  These shrewd experts trust their keen eye for detail to find hidden treasures at the top auctions around the world including airport auctions, unclaimed freight and shipping auctions, police and seizure auctions, vehicular auctions and estate auctions.

MYSTERIES AT THE MUSEUM

SEASON PREMIERE: Thursday, November 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT

In the fourth season premiere, Don Wildman first travels to Boone, Iowa.  There, housed in a display case at the Boone County Historical Center is a seemingly ordinary metal and glass lantern.  But this beacon of light guided a brave teenager through a dark and stormy night on a dramatic life-saving mission.  Then at the Daredevil Museum in Niagara Falls, New York, Wildman examines an elaborately-constructed 12-foot barrel that was built specifically for a death-defying act of tumbling straight over the Falls!  Wildman then heads to South Carolina's Florence Museum, where Civil War regalia and crude surgical instruments are on display.  And within this collection is a gnarled piece of metal linked to a disaster that nearly wiped a town off the map!

Series Synopsis:  "Mysteries at the Museum" spans the country, exploring local archives, storefront collections and the hallowed halls of stately institutions, to uncover the objects and artifacts that reveal the nation's hidden secrets.  Museum explorer and history enthusiast Don Wildman scours a range of museums in search of extraordinary relics at the heart of tales that shock and amaze.  From Springfield, Illinois' Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, where a rusted metal chisel was once wielded in a daring plot to steal the remains of the beloved 16th President, to the Connecticut Air and Space Museum, where a replica of a primitive plane may rewrite the history of aviation, these are a few of the sites that celebrate our nation's distinguished past.  Through gripping interviews, rich archival footage and arresting reenactments, "Mysteries at the Museum" brings to life the amazing artifacts from the center of the nation's most notorious crimes and scandals, unexplained encounters, bizarre inventions, and the most enthralling events of all time.

NEW EPISODE: Tuesday, November 27 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT

Todd Carmichael ventures deep into the jungles of Borneo in search of one of the world's rarest coffee beans. Carmichael's never seen this unique plant, but it's rumored to produce beans much larger than regular coffee. Venturing upriver by longboat, he encounters a Bornean tribe best known for their elaborate tattoos and long history of headhunting. After a meal of local offerings, the chief gives him directions to find the coffee. Forging through the lush terrain, humidity, snakes, and parasites, Carmichael crosses ancient bamboo bridges, eats slimy grub, and sleeps in the wild - all in the hope of bringing a rare exotic "Liberica" coffee bean back home to his roasters.

Series Synopsis:  Coffee magnate and adventurer Todd Carmichael hunts down rare strains of coffee in some of the most fascinating and unseen places in the world.  His business depends on sourcing coffee so extraordinary, it's sought after by the world's top chefs.  Whether he's sleeping under his truck to avoid being detected by notorious criminals or using makeshift repairs to fix a broken engine, Carmichael risks it all tracking his way from villages to mountain enclaves where the best coffee fruit hides.  Travel is his life, and coffee fuels his passion for adventure.  And buying directly from the growers means Carmichael must encounter danger and opposition from entrenched middlemen. There's an amazing story behind every cup!

BAGGAGE BATTLES

NEW EPISODE: Wednesday, November 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT

Since the 1840's, Greensboro, NC has thrived as a shipping thoroughfare.  Nicknamed "Gate City," it's one of the major hubs for imports and exports in the United States.  With so much freight in transit, some things are bound to get lost, and they end up at Quality Salvage.  Located between six major highways, this auction house receives over five-million tons of lost freight every year, and their number-one priority is to sell these items every week.  The three teams of "Baggage Battles" auction specialists (Billy Leroy, Mark Meyer and married couple Laurence and Sally Martin) head to Greensboro to attend this prominent southern motor-freight auction.  The auction begins with the Martins bidding against Meyer on a crate with NASCAR collectibles.  Next, all the specialists, along with local bidders, engage in a bidding war for a pallet of vintage Playboy Magazines.  Then Leroy bids against the Martins on a 19th century rifle that is inlaid with mother-of-pearl.  After all the pallets have been won (or lost), one of the "Baggage Battles" teams discovers an item that's worth over $3,000!

TOY HUNTER

NEW EPISODE:  Wednesday, November 28 at 9:00p.m. ET/PT

Jordan Hembrough travels to Houston, TX, and he needs to come up with something BIG to make this trip a success.  On his first stop he meets Victor, a nostalgia fanatic with a penchant for boy toys, particularly 1960's and 1970's vehicles.  Hembrough does well with a Masters of the Universe Spydor vehicle, some Chips figures and a Johnny Lightning Fire Leap set.  But the real jewel of this garage is a Green Hornet Black Beauty car.  The problem, however, is Victor really likes the Green Hornet and isn't willing to sell.  Hembrough continues his journey to meet Faye.  She's been sitting on her children's toys for years, and is finally ready to let go of these 80's gems.  Hembrough quickly scoops up a Space 1999 Chest Pack Radio, a pair of Nerf Fencing Swords, and a Fireball Island board game – a unique 1986 Milton Bradley game that, according to Hembrough, is VERY hard to find.  Hembrough's last stop is a visit to Rita, a clearance shopper who bought toys as birthday gifts throughout the years, and many of them never made it to the party.  She has a room full of beanie babies, lunchboxes and assorted action figures, and Hembrough finds a Magnadoodle and a Star Wars Lunch Box that he happily purchases.

Series Synopsis:  "Toy Hunter" follows toy and collectibles expert and dealer Jordan Hembrough as he scours the country for hidden treasures to sell to his buyers around the world.  In each episode, he travels from city to city, strategically maneuvering around reluctant sellers, abating budgets, and avoiding unforeseen roadblocks.  With his sights on the holy grail of toys and pop culture collectibles, we'll follow along with Hembrough as he digs through thousands of toy stashes, looking to turn people's old trash into cold cash.  As each flip brings him one step closer to his goal of becoming the ultimate collector, the stakes become higher, the hagglers push harder, and the payoffs are greater than ever before.  For this toy hunter, poking through cramped attics and rummaging around dirty garages to score rare vintage items is all in a day's work!

Unable to police a world in which science has advanced beyond our wildest dreams–and nightmares–Olivia Dunham (series star Anna Torv) seeks help from Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his jack-of-all-trades son, Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson). Under the direction of Special Agent Phillip Broyles (Lance Reddick) and assisted by Agents Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole), Charlie Francis (Kirk Acevedo) and Lincoln Lee (Seth Gabel), the Fringe Team investigates unusual incidents that defy human logic and unimaginable events that threaten our very existence on a universal scale.

Fringe is produced by Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The creative team behind the series includes executive producers J.J. Abrams (Lost, the Star Trek and Mission: Impossible movies), Jeff Pinkner (Alias, Lost), J.H. Wyman (The Mexican, Keen Eddie), Bryan Burk (Lost, Alias, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) and Joe Chappelle (The Wire) and consulting producers Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers), Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) and Akiva Goldsman (The Da Vinci Code).

For Science Channel, Debbie Adler Myers is general manager and executive vice president, Bernadette McDaid is vice president of production and Dexter Cole is vice president of programming.

Hotel Impossible Returns for Season 2 Premiere on The Travel Channel

Thirteen more hotels that will be getting their kick in the pants!

via press release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

'HOTEL FIXER' ANTHONY MELCHIORRI RETURNS FOR SECOND SEASON OF
TRAVEL CHANNEL'S "HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE"
ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 3 AT 10:00 P.M. ET/PT

New Designers Join The Show Providing Their Own Expertise
To Help Turn These Struggling Properties Around

"AFTER ANTHONY" SPECIAL TO PREMIERE ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2013

CHEVY CHASE, MD (November 7, 2012) – Travel Channel has set a wake-up call for 13 more hotels struggling to stay afloat in an all-new season of "Hotel Impossible" premiering on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.   Host and "hotel fixer" Anthony Melchiorri is back to save failing hotels for season two of the critically-acclaimed original series. Armed with a team of designers to help turn things around, Melchiorri convinces the hotel staff and owners to let go of the reins and take his advice seriously or be prepared to lose everything.  In addition, Travel Channel's one-hour special, "After Anthony," premiering on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, follows Melchiorri back to some of the most memorable hotels from the first season to see if the owners have kept up his recommendations and if business is improving.
"Since the first season launched, we've heard from hundreds of hotel owners around the world begging for Anthony's help," said Andy Singer, GM, Travel Channel.  "Season two will throw the spotlight on different hotels with new challenges that Anthony, and his team of designers, must face in a limited time to help turn the business around."

The new season will continue to feature hotels that are either not living up to their potential, or on the verge of closing.  Anthony Melchiorri assesses each property and identifies its biggest problems.  He then meets with the staff, from front desk receptionists to housekeeping to the owners themselves, to determine the key operation issues. Joining our hotel expert on location are a variety of highly experienced designers including Blanche Garcia, Casey Noble and Alison Victoria, who will help transform key spaces in each hotel.  As in last season, Melchiorri has just days to formulate a plan, revamp the hotel and re-motivate its staff.  For some hotel owners, this is their last hope.

In the premiere episode,
Melchiorri heads to the island getaway Caribe Playa Beach Resort to reinvigorate a hotel that's a mere ten steps away from the beautiful tropical beaches of Puerto Rico.  Owner George Engel struggles to make revenue off this prime real estate, which hasn't seen a profit since 2006. Melchiorri's first order of business is to resolve a sticky family situation – Engel's wife Francis, failing miserably as the hotel's General Manager.  Then, Melchiorri enlists returning designer Blanche Garcia to help redesign the chaotic front desk, in addition to remodeling the guest rooms to resemble a five-star accommodation.  Meanwhile, Melchiorri works with Engel to hire a new, experienced General Manager to manage the day-to-day tasks that Francis Engel struggled to handle. With the resort's new management, coupled with Garcia's renovations to the front desk and guest rooms, Melchiorri's goal is to turn this struggling oceanfront hotel into a world-class destination resort.

Upcoming episodes feature major transformations that help put hotels back into the black, including: Bromley Sun Lodge, Peru, Vermont; Delaware Water Gap Country Club & Inn, Delaware Water Gap, Penn.; Glacier Bay Lodge, Yakutat, Alaska; The Hotel Leger, Mokelumne Hill, Calif.; Maui Sunseeker Resort, Maui, Hawaii; Palm Springs Travelodge, Palm Springs, Calif.; Periwinkle Inn, Cape May, N.J.; Telemark Resort & Convention Center, Cable, Wis.; Triangle T Historic Ranch, Dragoon, Ariz.; and more.

"Hotel Impossible" is produced by Atlas Media Corp. for Travel Channel. For Atlas, executive producers are Bruce David Klein, Lorri Leighton and Rob Green. For Travel Channel, the executive producer is Brian Leonard.
