My 'Godzilla' Encounter (Video) and Godzilla's Look in Gareth Edwards' Movie

'Godzilla' Encounter and how the new Godzilla will Look
A few days prior to this post, the Comic-Con viral display for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla was a pretty fun experience for anyone who decided to go through the place, that was put up in downtown San Diego, at J and 7th.

The walk through took fans through a museum like experience where we got to check out different aspects of Godzilla over the years.  Then the crowd was then shuffled into another control room where we were asked to turn off our recording equipment, phones, cameras, etc..

It was a control room where the visitors were asked to flip switches and control buttons on a huge control panel to help the team that's tracking Godzilla.

While we where there, we were then whisked away into an "elevator" to get out of there because the monster hit land.  The room shook and then we were dispatched into an office, looking out a "window."

We saw the fins and tail go by, and the tour guide said we should be fine, but then the big guy pops up and looks right at us.  Yikes!

It was fun, and we were given a Mondo Godzilla poster.

But what's more important... is how Godzilla will look in the new 2014 movie.

According to the Gareth Edwards Godzilla Facebook page, this concept model is "Godzilla 2014."

Knowing this before getting to the exhibit, I focused on that particular model in the display and took a few extra shots and video of it and the display area.

Psst: The vids ain't perfect.  I was taking pics with my camera while remotely operating my phone-holding arm...  "Peripheral Vision Mode!"  The second video, after a few seconds practice, is better.

That's all I have for ya.  Here's hoping that FB post was right!

Godzilla is coming out in May 2014.  It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe and David Strathairn.  Gareth Edwards directs.

If you want to know how he handles his monster movie, try to check out Gareth Edwards' 2010 movie, Monsters.  He makes the people the center of the story, and the monsters are a critical, but not the showcased story elements.

I think he'll make this a good representation of the franchise.  Though I must confess, if there are multiple monsters in this new Godzilla movie, it feels like a rush into the latter years of the old franchise.  And will 'Zilla be the protector of the land or just another threat to humanity?

We'll see.  In due time.
