Quicksilver Cast In Avengers 2 (And The Confusion of there being two of them)

The Avengers: Age of Ultron casting news

News on the street is that Marvel hired Aaron Taylor-Johnson to play Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.  It's about time this rumor has been put to rest.

But if you are in the know and are scratching your head, Yes, the Quicksilver character will also be seen in the Fox film franchise, Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, played by Evan Peters.

If you recall, it seemed that almost as soon as Marvel news hit the street some time back that Quicksilver will be in the second Avengers movie, Fox later announced that Quicksilver will be in their X-Men movie.

It is what it is, right?

So how's that going to be handled?

Well, in Age of Ultron, they won't be referencing their relationship to Magneto, if you can imagine that complete confounded mess.  And in X-Men, they won't be referenced to as Avengers.

Now I can't wait to see who they cast in The Scarlet Witch's place.  Rumors suggest Elizabeth Olsen.  She doesn't normally do much for me, but then again Scarlett Johansson doesn't do anything for me either, until she's playing the Black Widow.  So we'll see.

N MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4 AT 9:00 P.M. ET/PT, Bizarre Foods of America will premiere on The Travel Channel.

via press release
Bada Bing, Bada Boom!  Andrew Zimmern, the three-time James Beard Award-winning TV personality, chef, food writer and culinary explorer, travels the Garden State Parkway from Jersey City to the Jersey Shore in search of amazing and unusual cuisine in the season premiere of “Bizarre Foods America” with Andrew Zimmern on Monday, November 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.  Throughout season five, Zimmern continues to discover the bizarre foods and cultures in the backyard of cities across North America.   This season will feature delicacies like cicada pot pie from Richmond, Virginia; seal flipper pie from Toronto, Canada; and Pakistani goat brain from New York City.

“Every year Bizarre Foods keeps getting better and better, and this coming season of ‘Bizarre Foods America’ is without a doubt our best yet,” said Zimmern. “Discovering new stories about places that we think we know everything about has become one of our signature strengths.  Even with shows like the one filmed in NYC, we demonstrate just how much you can learn about the most written about city in the world.”

In the season premiere of “Bizarre Foods America,” Zimmern takes viewers on a journey through New Jersey to experience some of the Garden State’s unfamiliar and exotic dishes.  First stop is on the Jersey Shore at LaMonica Fine Foods, where he tries some authentic Italian-American food called scungilli – conch meat, steamed and cut into strips.  With nearly a hundred thousand pounds of conch arriving daily, this facility still shucks by hand and prepares for canning.  Continuing along the shore, Zimmern visits the New Jersey Aquaculture Innovation Center, where he mixes up a cocktail of oyster eggs and sperm to create a triploid – an entirely new type of oyster with an additional third chromosome.

Back in Jersey City, Zimmern explores Phil-Am – a Philippine grocery store located in Little Manila serving sisig – a dish of pig head that is boiled, broiled, chopped, fried and served on a sizzling platter, and balut – fertilized duck eggs.   He also visits Legal Beans BBQ – a whole-hog rotisserie pit house devoted to the lechon BBQ style, as well as Thirty Acres, the first in a wave of new seasonal American restaurants serving Jersey fluke fish and grilled hearts from locally raised duck.  Other highlights include a visit to a ramen factory in Teterboro for a noodle-making demonstration, as well as the Hungarian Festival in New Brunswick, featuring classic comfort food including parcal porkolt or stewed beef tripe – the stomach lining of the cow.

During the new season, Zimmern travels around North America visiting iconic locations including Cleveland, New York City, Pittsburgh, San Francisco Bay, Toronto and the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul.  Along the way, he discovers the quirky subcultures and prevailing traditions passed down by immigrants in the United States and Canada.

“Bizarre Foods America” with Andrew Zimmern is produced by Tremendous! Entertainment,

Inc. for Travel Channel.  For Tremendous!, the executive producers are Colleen Needles Steward, Shannon Keenan Demers, Andrew Zimmern and David Barsky.  For Travel Channel, the executive producer is David E. Gerber.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ S6, ep8: ‘Los Fantasmas’ Recap fr 10-29-13, "Love wrapped around secrets and hate."

‘Sons of Anarchy’ S6, ep8: ‘Los Fantasmas’ Recap

Tonight's episode of Sons of Anarchy hit home on many levels, across the board.

A wedge between Jax and Gemma has finally happened.  Nero tries to sacrifice himself to the DA, while Tara and Wendy are both buckling under the pressure of what they've done and are dealing with it in their own ways.

The episode opens with Jax sitting with his kid, then chatting with Tara.  It's evident Tara's plan worked and Gemma is on her own.

At the police station, Gemma tells Eli about Tara's scheming and stunt.   Margaret Murphy and Wendy were "witnesses" that were never in the room, and Gemma believes that Tara was never pregnant.

Over at the candy store, Jax calls an all-hands meeting after seeing a newspaper headline about the shooting being tied to local gangs.  The newspaper headline is part of a plan by the DA to put pressure where she can.  And she's there pushing Nero to give it all up.

Wayne visits Tara telling her it breaks his heart to see how she has become so wrong to get something right done.  He puts distance between them.  He heads off to pick up Gemma from jail.

SONS OF ANARCHY Los Fantasmas recap -- Episode 608 -- Airs Tuesday, October 29, 10:00 pm e/p) -- Pictured: (L-R) Rey Gallegos as Fiasco, Tommy Flanagan as Filip 'Chibs' Telford, Charlie Hunnam as Jackson 'Jax' Teller

Jax visits Nero's guys and tells them to keep their cool.  Then a drive-by takes place, killing one of Nero's guys by running him over.  Pretty graphic.

Did anyone notice that Juice stood in the path of the car, not budging, and the car went around him?  Is Juice still suicidal?

'The Walking Dead' Renewed by AMC

'The Walking Dead' Renewed by AMC

I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but AMC announced that The Walking Dead has been renewed for a fifth season.  And it's also important to know that showrunner Scott M. Gimple will be returning in the same capacity.  (Unless AMC changes their mind yet again)

They did not mention the episode count, but more than likely, it will be sixteen episodes, split into their two eight-episode runs, like this present season.  And I presume The Talking Dead returns with it, considering it expanded to an hour and seems to do well after the show.

As it stands, AMC needs this show.  They've lost Breaking Bad and Mad Men is finishing its run in 2015.

On the near horizon, they have the Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul, and a spinoff from The Walking Dead coming (They call it a companion series.  That's cable-speak for spinoff I guess), and a drama called Line of Sight with David Morrissey.  (Is that a spoiler?  That Morrissey will be on a new show?  Does this spell doom for The Governor?)

We still haven't heard if they're renewing Hell on Wheels and word on the street that the boredom called Low Winter Sun is not coming back.  To be honest, I'm not surprised.  Something was lacking there and I never got sucked into liking or caring about any of the writer-driven characters.

Be it as it may, that's what's up for now from AMC, The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul and more.

Is Marvel Making A Short With The REAL Mandarin?

Tony Stark and The Mandarin
Wow, is Marvel starting to back-pedal on 'Iron Man 3's' Mandarin Character?  Maybe!

Latino Review has printed a scoop they dug up on my Ben Kingsley has been seen on the set at Avengers: Age of Ultron

A while back I saw a piece that Kingsley was on the set and I was wondering what was up with that?  I mean Shane Black already destroyed the rich history of who or what the Mandarin was to Tony Stark.  What else could they do?  (What Black did was akin to making Lex Luthor a homeless character in a Superman movie.)  That is, besides Disney marketing the living crap out of the movie and giving away all the great surprise spots?

So despite my not trusting Shane Black ever again, I was curious.

Now Latino Review is reporting an exclusive inside story that Ben Kingsley is not in the next Avengers film (Which I was secretly hoping he would, after revealing he truly was the Mandarin.), but rather, that he's filming one of those shorts that Marvel likes to do.

You see, I've been secretly hoping that when Trevor (Kingsley) was captured in Iron Man 3, that it was truly still the Mandarin, faking it big time, in hopes of lying low under the radar.

But I think what LR is reporting is even better.

Marvel realized they upset the long time fans of the Iron Man franchise.  (No s! Sherlock!)  So now they're cleaning up Shane Black's mess and is reporting that

"Marvel wants to make it up to fans so in the one shot, the REAL Mandarin is furious with Aldrich Killian and Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery for the mockery they made of the real Mandarin’s identity and legacy. The real Mandarin wants to set the record straight."

That would be nice Marvel.

But to be truly reflective upon the scenario, they completely wasted Ben Kingsley as Trevor when he could have played a wonderful Mandarin.

As it is, that means we have to keep an eye out now for any casting calls from Marvel/Disney as they might now be casting themselves a Mandarin.  Or not, and just keep him out of lens-shot for the short.

But be it as it may, it's nice they're doing this.  If this is accurate/true.  But to be honest, I'm surprised that Marvel and joss Whedon actually let Black do this to the Mandarin in the first place.

Sure, they like mixing things up and they've done a great job of it... mostly.  But this was one of those things you don't mess with.  ""You don't tug on Superman's cape, You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that ol' Lone Ranger; And you don't mess around with Jim
.""  Now they need to add you don't f*! with the Mandarin's history to that song quote.

Yay... there just might be some justice in the world yet!!!

'Ender's Game' - Will You See It Despite the Controversy?

Will You See 'Ender's Game,' Despite the Controversy?

Ender's Game Controversy?  Yep, though Lionsgate has minimized the noise, there is a bit of a controversy underneath it all surrounding the upcoming sci-fi fantasy action movie, Ender's Game.

I'm in a quandary of sorts about Ender's Game, starring Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield.

I read the book a while back ( enders-game-review) and absolutely loved it.  It was an incredible read with an incredible ending.

I was pretty excited when I first heard that they were making the book into a movie.  And back then, I was not aware of the controversy in some circles regarding author Orson Scott Card.  In fact, I only knew that Card cranked out one heck of a story and it changed my view of sci-fi forever.

I also didn't realize until just around 2013 Comic-Con, when the potential of his appearing at the event in San Diego generated some interesting press.  And that press has me confused.  Confused if I want to support the movie production or not after that.

First up... the story is great science fiction, and that in and of itself, as some would argue, is reason for seeing and supporting the movie.

But then there's this subtle movement to make a statement about Card's beliefs.  (I won't even pull up the religion card.  A person's beliefs are their beliefs, regardless of what venue they use to express them.)

The issue some groups are having is Card's constant homophobic comments and lobbying against equality.

If you look around the web, Card has quite the history of dropping comments about his beliefs and his opposition to same-sex marriage.  Further web research indicates that he is also an active member (and financial supporter) in the National Organization for Marriage.

He recently been quoted to comparing President Obama to Hitler, while others also seem to think that Card connects homosexuality to child molestation.

It doesn't help that he's rather strong worded in his beliefs.

"I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn.

Lionsgate has attempted to distance themselves from Card and is making efforts to let people know that they do not support Card's perspectives.

A Related Lionsgate Press Release:

As proud longtime supporters of the LGBT community, champions of films ranging from ‘Gods and Monsters’ to ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ and a company that is proud to have recognized same-sex unions and domestic partnerships within its employee benefits policies for many years, we obviously do not agree with the personal views of Orson Scott Card and those of the National Organization for Marriage.

The simple fact is that neither the underlying book nor the film itself reflect these views in any way, shape or form.  On the contrary, the film not only transports viewers to an entertaining and action-filled world, but it does so with positive and inspiring characters who ultimately deliver an ennobling and life-affirming message. Lionsgate will continue its longstanding commitment to the LGBT community by exploring new ways we can support LGBT causes and, as part of this ongoing process, will host a benefit premiere for ‘Ender’s Game.’

I'm conflicted by his beliefs versus the great story and potential entertainment of the movie.

Every person has the right to their beliefs and opinions.  But people are worried that the money he makes off the film will go into supporting his beliefs, thus bolstering the battle against the freedom of choice.

Not to mention that his beliefs ruffle my own beliefs in letting people having the freedom to do what they choose to do with their lives, regardless of what it is.

One's belief or lifestyle should never be obstructed by another's set of beliefs.  PERIOD.

Hence, I don't know about seeing this movie.  Then again, a boycott of the movie, as some are suggesting, not only might "hurt" Card, but also hurts folks who are dependent on the income off the monies this production makes at the box office.

In the end, I will probably go see Ender's Game this Friday.

But if you are starting to question your own perspectives on seeing the movie, then what I've done below is try to collect various links from different sources so you can see for yourself what's being said. (I tried to keep these links to mainstream sites that cover Hollywood, leaving out the rest of the agitated noise.)

{thewrap: how-summit-responds-when-orson-scott-card-compares-obama-to-hitler}

{herocomplex.latimes: enders-game-boycott}

{hitfix: lionsgate-response-to-enders-game-author-controversy}

{.huffingtonpost: call-off-the-enders-game_boycott}

{huffingtonpost: orson-scott-card-racist-obama}

Or do a Google search for Ender's Game Boycott if you want to see for yourself what else is up.  This search alone has some other good perspectives from both sides of this battle.

In the end, I don't think the box office numbers will be impacted enough.  Those who have issues with Card and his beliefs will feel better with themselves that they did not contribute, while others will come away with the probable awe that the book left me with.  (That's if they did the movie right.)

Why No One Helped Tony Stark in 'Iron Man 3'

Why no Avenger Showed up to Help Tony in Iron Man 3?
(Stop!  I don't need anyone's help!)

I don't get why we keep seeing news or blog articles on the issue of why no other Avenger came to the aid of Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, or as I like to call it, the "Shell Game of The Mandarin."  If you're going to ask that question, you might as well as the question why no one else from any SHIELD resource wasn't pulled in to help Tony in the first two IM movies.

Any long time comic fan knows how each character has their own title, along with the cross-over titles and group titles.  So we get it.

But I would think that most any other movie fan is intelligent enough to know that there are things that require our attention, as an individual.  And there are things that require our attention, in a group.

As is the case with Tony Stark and the Avengers.

To be honest...

When the entire Earth is attacked by aliens, by all means, this should require SHIELD, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers and any other super-powered entity they can get their hands on to deal with it.  It makes sense.  (Well, any character that Disney/Marvel has retained the rights to.  Which is sad that we didn't see other characters step up when the entire planet was threatened, but there's that legal/profit issue with naming rights and it's no surprise Fox didn't play nice.)

In Iron Man 3, post Avengers and New York alien attack, we're looking in on the life and times of Tony Stark's day-to-day events once again, just like we did in Iron Man and Iron Man 2.

And had Tony and Rhodes failed in stopping Killian, then he would have become more of a global threat and SHIELD would probably have stepped up.  But that's just my guess where the story could have gone, post Stark era.

Additionally, all of our heroes are like-minded type-A jocks.  Meaning they aren't going to call out for help from anyone else at the first sign of any kind of trouble.  They can handle it themselves.  Especially someone as egotistically driven as Tony Stark is.

Does this not make sense folks?

What sparked this?  There's a news bit I saw from a site that says Avengers Age of Ultron will have an explanation why no one came to Tony Stark's aid in Iron Man 3.

Why would they have to?  It's done.  But I suppose, if a studio feels the need to pander to a certain demographic that will help promote the profit bottom line, I suppose this could happen, as they have to keep the masses happy.

That's that.

'The Walking Dead' Recap of "Isolation"

'The Walking Dead' Recap of "Isolation"

In the latest episode of AMC's The Walking Dead, titled "Isolation," Tyreese is not HAPPY and wants the bastards who burned his girlfriend.  Can't blame him there, though he did have a bit of a problem with his blind rage.

Rick put him down, but it set him back a bit with some inner turmoils.

Sasha needs to see Dr. S.  She's hacking up, coughing, and does not look good.

Between the internal walker outbreak and the flu, recent events are starting to take their toll.

Cell block D is going down, and they're making Cell Block A the isolation ward.  During the council meeting we see that Glenn seems to be getting sick.

It also seems, as if it's not bad enough, their water source is having an issue.

Tyreese buries his girl, Karen, and the other body, David.  He's not convinced Rick is doing everything possible to find the murderer.  He's off to take care of it himself.

Meanwhile, Glenn now "has it."

Hershel grabs a coffee cup that says "Java Saves."  LOL.

Hershel looks to go outside and Carl is very adamant in escorting him.  He's out with Carl collecting herbs and they come across a moss covered "walker."  Well, more like a layer, since he's only laying there.

'The Walking Dead' Recap of "Isolation"

Wow... Sasha has isolated herself in the execution chamber of all places.  And Tyreese is ready to go with Daryl and Michonne to get drugs for the sick.

Maggie and Rick are trying to talk sense into Hershel about going out alone and going in to the isolation cell.  In the end they let Hershel go in, but it seems moot to have him bring in a home remedy and risk his life.

Carol goes off the reservation (code for leaves the prison) and does one of those stupid things and goes out by herself to fix the water problem with the source hose.

Rick saves someone else making a bone-head move.

Kurt Sutter Talks Ending 'Sons of Anarchy' Or Not

Kurt Sutter as Otto in 'Sons of Anarchy'

Kurt Sutter
was at a public (ATAS) event this weekend and in that event some Q and A about Sons of Anarchy was tossed his way.

In that event, Sutter was asked about if he's sticking to the premise of ending Sons of Anarchy after seven seasons.  Or if, with good enough ratings, he'll continue the story of SAMCRO?

What Sutter said was:
That a show can ultimately "eat itself" after about seven seasons or become more expensive too make.

He wanted to tell his story in seven seasons to avoid that.

He is open to any possibility, depending on how things are going, but he doesn't believe a show can retain its rhythm that it's established.

He really wants to finish the story in seven and doesn't want to have it become something it's not.

On being more expensive:  I presume he means that as cast, crew and creators salaries go up, can advertisers continue to provide the monies to keep it profitable?

On retaining rhythm, he has a point on how a show can go so long and then just get old and repetitive.

Heck, some shows get that way after just a few seasons, so we've been lucky to get some great story lines out of Charming.

On a funnier note, he was asked about his character, Otto and having written him into a pretty ugly corner as Otto was prison raped daily.

Kurt Sutter's response?

I just want to say I’m probably the only showrunner in this town that would take one in the ass...

You have to admit, that's pretty funny.

Syfy's 'Zombie Night' Review

Review of Syfy's Zombie Night TV movie
(Psst: This promo image is the best part of the movie.)
Syfy's Zombie Night opens with a family in a car driving by a bad traffic accident scene.  Dad (Hall) is telling his kids to not look.

The girl in the car, Tracy, gets a call from her boyfriend, telling her they need to turn around and get back to his house because his dad is locking everyone in the safe room.

Dad cuts out of traffic, cutting throug a cemetary of all things, when he hits someone in the cemetary.  But of course, it's not a person.

Then more bodies start to crawl out of the ground.

We watch a news broadcast talking about the dead waking up.  We pan to a cop car, where all officers are being recalled to the station in an urgent call for help.

At the station, the cop who made the radio call hears a sound come from a morgue drawers (or something like that) and the dumbass opens it.

Back at the cemetary, rather than go hide in the car, our intellectually beleaguered family goes and hides in some small storage shed.

While the daughter's friend ran and has climbed a tree to get away from our hungry dead.  Then in a another brilliant (not!) move, she leaves her safe perch and runs... into an open grave.  Gobble, gobble, and I don't mean turkey.

Meanwhile back at the houses of our troubled families, they're having their own problems.  The police station is still having issues.

In the house they hear a big noise from upstairs... but they decide that even though they're all downstairs, that it's OK.  It's nothing. All too classic.

Yep, loud thumpings from our upstairs are usually always nothing.  I tend to turn the TV up louder when I have strange sounds in the house.

OMG, during a news broadcast, the family's Romanian (or whatever) baby sitter (or whatever) starts sputtering out some witchy stuff about how the dead will rise.  WTF?

A cop gets into a shuffle for his gun and shoots a child, who gets right up, undead dead.

And the disaster (of a TV movie) goes from there.

If you thought that was bad, that was only the first 30 minutes.

Zombie Night had an opening splash screen saying this is an Asylum Production (yes, that Asylum that does mostly knock off productions) and I'm trying to figure out which if any one movie they're trying to rip off, or if they just ripped off several movies at once. IMDb says it's produced by Indy Entertainment.  Meh, it didn't matter who made this.

The movie stars Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill), Anthony Michael Hall (Dead in Tombstone, The Dark Knight, 'Awkward'), Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Speed, Twister), Shirley Jones (Grandma's Boy), Jennifer Taylor (Two and a Half Men), Rachel G. Fox (Desperate Housewives) and other desperate acting hopefuls and fading past stars.

Oh, and lots of quickly done up zombie walkers.

As you can see this movie from director John Gulager hit on as many popular nods to the zombie genre as you could possibly fit into the first 20 to 30 minutes.  And they didn't do it well.

To see Daryl Hannah, Anthony Michael Hall and Alan Ruck relegated to what I amount to 'probably losing a bet' to be in this movie is pretty disheartening.

There's talent on screen and they're reduced to zombie acting.  No, not acting like zombies... but rote, horrible direction in how they acted.

And then there's Shirley Jones, where almost every single scene she was in in that first 30 minutes was horribly funny.  Or horrible or funny. She kept acting as if she was having a paranoid panic act, thrashing around and crying out constantly.

In this movie, Shirley Jones let herself be reduced to an annoying footnote in the world of acting.

Additionally, I normally try to dive into the characterization of a movie. When I watch an apocalyptic movie, I try to feel the horror of the situation.

With that said, I found myself laughing out loud in several moments of the film.  That's not like me, but I couldn't help it.

Overall, we're not given enough story about any one character, the mystery zombie plague is not explained (Or was it when I was screaming in emotional pain and missed it?), and some of the living cast needed better fitting costumes.  (Cop uniforms should not be baggy, loose fitting, 3 size too large outfits.  Just sayin')

If you see Zombie Night on the schedule, and you insist on checking it out, get a six-pack and lots of hot wings.   At least that way, you'll be enjoying something during this grueling test of your crap filter.  (I had a co-viewer in the room crying out, "Oh my god, really?  We're actually watching this???")

Television Programming: 'Grimm,' 'Dracula' And More...

Tonight, Friday, 10-25-13, we have a few shows premiering their new seasons.

Grimm promo poster with David Giuntoli

Grimm returns for it's third season premiere, where "Juliette, Monroe, Rosalie and Hank frantically fending off zombies while Capt. Renard works to rescue Nick. Meanwhile, Adalind takes on a grisly task in an attempt to regain her powers."

Gads, I truly dislike Adalind.

Also on NBC, with Grimm as a nice lead-in, their new series, Dracula, has its series premiere.

"Alan Grayson marks his arrival in England with a lavish party, during which he becomes infatuated with Mina, a newly engaged woman who strongly resembles his dead former love"

It sounds like they've changed a name in one case, but kept the name of another character in this remake.

One Cinema Static insider said they need a better looking Dracula.  (If anyone watches, tell me he doesn't remind you of Parker Bohn, the PBA champ???)

Also returning tonight is Carrie (CW), Gold Rush (DSC), and Secret Princes (TLC).  Seriously?  A prince can't land some waife in his own country?

CW's 'Beauty and the Beast' Is It Ramping Up To Jump The Shark?

I don't know about you, and maybe it is me, but Beauty and Beast, starring Kristen Kreuk and Jay Ryan is starting to seriously test my patience.

Beauty and Beast (2012), starring Kristen Kreuk and Jay Ryan

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first season, where Catherine (Kreuk) continually did what Vincent (Ryan) told her not to.  (OK, it was a developing pet peeve of mine.)  But it was season one and as the season wore on the story seemed to develop momentum.  The potential was there.  It was unfulfilled potential, but it was there.

Then this season they changed up the story, causing Vincent to lose his memory, putting him on some secretive mission that Catherine can never ask about, threw in her biological father (Good excuse for the bad guys to not put a bullet in her head) and it's a new beginning for our supposed love birds.

But Catherine continually does what he says not to  do (again/still).

When Vincent lost it with her for continually asking what he's doing and knocked her across the roof out of frustration, to be honest I felt like it was about time.  It was like a message to her to back the *! off.  If this woman consistently blew me off with every single request I made of her, I'd be gone.  But Vincent is more patient.

I keep watching in the hopes that this story line settles down to these two actually having a relationship again.

Then again, it's possible that I'm hellbent to see this reboot start to even come close to the original series that this is based on.

Beauty and the Beast, (1987), Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton

Back in the day, the original series from 1987, the show starred Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim) as Vincent, a mutant of sorts, and Linda Hamilton (Terminator film franchise) as Catherine Chandler, a DA.

Recap of 'Agents of SHIELD' "Girl in the Flower Dress" (Ep 1.6)

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. recap - Ruth Negga and Louis Ozawa Changchien pictured

In the latest episode of Agents of SHIELD, titled "Girl in the Flower Dress," a woman in a floral dress chats up a young man with an apparent unique skill with fire.  But she's just an agent looking to capture him.  Reason, unknown at the onset of the episode.

SHIELD becomes alerted to his abduction and while talking with the local authorities, discover that the Rising Tide has been hacking the law enforcement networks.

Everyone stares at Skye.  (LOL)

The group that kidnapped our meta-human pitches him that he can be more than just the street performer like he is.

He seems to buy it.

SHIELD tracks down the hacker and loses him in traffic, but then we discover that Skye was waiting for him... at his home.

Apparently the big Rising Tide hacker is Skye's "man."

After they "bonk," Skye's worried about SHIELD and needs to get going.  She can't find her blouse, but Agent May is in the next room, holding it up, asking her if this is what she's looking for?

Coulson IS NOT happy.

Is Kat Graham Leaving 'Vampire Diaries?'

Did the funeral make you wonder if Kat Graham is leaving Vampire Diaries?

In the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries titled " For Whom the Bell Tolls," quite a bit happened.

-While working on his memory, Stepahn learns about him, Elena and Damon's situation.  He's borderline ripper at the moment too.

-Caroline seems to be moving on from Tyler, with Jesse.

-Matt learns about Gregor (If you watched, you'll see what that means.)

-Through various deeds, it looks like Jesse just might becoming a vampire.

Oh, and Jeremy finally tells everyone that Bonnie is dead.  The gig is up and everyone had a wonderfully touching memorial/funeral for Bonnie.

Kat Graham and Steven R McQueen in The Vampire Diaries

And therein lies the question I was asked about.  With the funeral for Bonnie, I had a few questions on whether or not Kat Graham might finally be leaving the show?

I did some digging around and found out that...

Due to the relationship between Bonnie and Jeremy, we'll be seeing more of that in season five.

And executive producers say they have no plans to send Bonnie packing.

Now I've heard exec producers say what fans want to hear about characters and then it turns out to be lies.  So as it stands, taking them for their word, Kat Graham is NOT leaving The Vampire Diaries.  (This season)

'Sons of Anarchy' Review of "Sweet and Vaded"

Sons of Anarchy review of Sweet and Vaded, Walton Goggins as Venus

The episode of Sons of Anarchy titled "Sweet and Vaded" opens with the boys cleaning out what's left of the club house, headed to their new club house, behind a candy store.

The mayor tells them the town is getting jittery and they have a bit of a time to show some good will.  Just like the old days, when the gang looked out for the town.

Things will be slow for the MC for a bit, while various business plans come together over the next few months.

Tara is preparing for the culmination of her plotting and plans.

The DA is leaning hard on Nero to give up the gun source.  She even nonchalantly drops the angle of his son in the mix.

Jax and Bobby at the new Clubhouse in Sons of Anarchy, "Sweet and Vaded"

Jax votes in new patches in their new "clubhouse."  After reading in their new patches, they decide to promote "Rat Boy" from prospect to member.  It was a great moment of levity as they gave him a ration of s*! until they show him his new patch.

BOBBY is BACK.  (He brought in the new "patch" members with him.) (There's something nagging me in the back of my mind, something about one of the new members I had read a few months back.  I guess we'll see as time moves on.)

With peace on the table with the Irish, Jax sends his Irish captives home.

Eli tells the DA the DNA from Toric's hotel room will be back by tomorrow.  This is why she's put the time crunch on Nero.

Later, Jax agrees to help Nero's girl, Venus (Played wonderfully by Walton Goggins) and it was more of a hoot of a distraction.  Venus is trying to get her son away from her ex-lover/mother Alice, played by Adrienne Barbeau.   It seems that Alice runs a child porn ring and the kid is destined for that life.

Review of "Sweet and Vaded" Kim Coates as Tig

Jax "deals" with it, all the while, we're watching Tig getting all hot under the collar for her.

Then there's Tara's plan, coming together.  Wendy drops some bits with Gemma about Tara's plan to get her kids out of Charming.  This sends Gemma on a tirade against her.  In front of witnesses.  And then Tara fakes Gemma attacking her by slamming herself into a desk and this gets Gemma arrested.  (With a little help with lots of blood.)

'Wonder Woman' In 'Man of Steel' Sequel? Yea, Right

Official 'Batman vs Superman' Movie Logo

I was reading over on SHH about the rumors that Wonder Woman might be appearing in the next Superman movie, the Man of Steel sequel, titled Batman vs. Superman.

In the piece they were talking from over on Variety, Warner Bros.’ president of creative development and worldwide production was asked about if they would start looking to introduce other DC characters in this upcoming Man of Steel movie, that would help lead up to their much beleaguered Justice League movie? (Are they not doomed, since Marvel did right before they did, or what?)

The questions included characters like Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash.

Wonder Woman art, via Comic Vine

His reply was that they're trying to figure it out, then added that Wonder Woman is an amazing character, blah, blah, blah.  You know, the usual Hollywood back-patting stuff.

Seeing as how he mentioned Amazonian Princess, the questions focused in on her and if she'll be getting her own movie or inclusion into this Bats/Supes or other film?

Get ready for the buttering of the promo machine with this reply:

We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that’s respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can, so everything that has been speculated are things that we’ve thought about.

Wait? What?  Better call Saul to define what we just saw!  But to be honest, if it's not a yes, then it sounds like a no, but with a lot of words to it.

Now-a-days, you can't trust anything these movie execs say in response to anyone's questions.

We were f*d with when the Iron Man 3 movie was heavily marketed with the Mandarin character.  We were misled with Kahn's participation in the story of Star Trek Into Darkness.

To be honest, if you look long and hard, you'll find a long string of misleading press bits of recent years for movies and TV.  But they are forced into that corner to try and keep things as a surprise.  (Unlike the massive marketing campaign for IM3 that spoiled every good surprise element of the story.)  They should stop yanking our chain, but it always sounds better to say they're considering something, as bait to keep the fans drooling and hooked for the next sound-byte that may never come.  But at least you didn't drift away, thinking there was no hope for that which you want to see.  (It's all about the marketing baby!)

My guess is that we need to take a Zen approach to this and any other question and just wait.  Time, will be the telling factor here.  As in, when we either see promos, posters or what not with whoever in the marketing, or when the movie opens!

'The Flash' to get spin-off series from CW's 'Arrow' (image via ifanboy)

Oh, by the way, CW's Arrow will have a spin-off pilot episode where they introduce the Flash, which is presumably going to head off in his own series.  Hope this one works better than the last attempt at a Flash TV series.

Also, since I only partially believe anyone these days, supposedly, we're going to see or get references to various DC heroes in this season of Arrow.

I'll see it when I believe it.  Or, um, something like that.
