Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) brings his modern vision to the classic story of The Magnificent Seven.

With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

JASON BOURNE Returns This Summer (Trailer included)

I do enjoy my Jason Bourne films and I'm pretty happy to see that Matt Damon is reprising the role for another summer fun movie in theaters July 29.

via press release

About Jason Bourne (2016):

"Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role in Jason Bourne. Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, once again joins Damon for the next chapter of Universal Pictures’ Bournefranchise, which finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows.

For Jason Bourne, Damon is joined by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones, while Julia Stiles reprises her role in the series. Frank Marshall again produces alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment, and Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman and Ben Smith also produce. Based on characters created by Robert Ludlum, the film is written by Greengrass and Christopher Rouse. "

Holy ancient history! ABC is going to revive the old game show, Match Game, and they will be adding it to their 2016 summer schedule.  Alec Baldwin will host.

Speaking of ABC, if you are expecting the second season of Secrets and Lies to air, for some reason they're holding back it's second season premiere yet again. They already postponed the premiere once and apparently, they're doing it again.

AMC announced that the premiere of the second half of Hell on Wheels fifth season will air starting June 11th.

These seven upcoming episodes will be the shows final eps, concluding the run this show had on AMC, finishing out the story of Cullen Bohannon played by the ruggedly handsome Anson Mount.

Neill Blomkamp is working on another Alien film. This one is not a ragged continuation in the direction of Ridley Scott's latest traumas, Alien Covenant, but rather, will be a continuation of the older film series.

Blomkamp is known for dark and dirty world settings. In fact most of his films spotlight those seedy, run-down looking shanty town feel. So you can expect that in this film. Or at least I think so.

But what you might not know is that Blomkamp is skirting around film franchise history and is reportedly bringing back CPL Hicks and Rebecca "Newt" Jordan.

The filming of this project was put on hold while Ridley Scott finishes up Alien Covenant, but at the moment, I haven't seen any casting notes, like if Micheal Biehn or Carrie Henn will return. Henn played Newt the first time around in Aliens.

About DOCTOR STRANGE, promo teaser trailer

About Doctor Strange:

The super quick synopsis for the upcoming Marvel film, Doctor Strange, reads as follows:

After Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is injured in an accident that ruins his career, he sets out on a journey of healing, where he encounters the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and the world of magic. The Ancient One later becomes Strange's mentor in the mystic arts.

It's being directed by Scott Derrickson (The Day The Earth Stood Still, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister).

Other cast includes

Chiwetel Ejiofor
Rachel McAdams
Michael Stuhlbarg
Mads Mikkelsen

If you've been following or encountering any headlines, then you've seen the grumblings about whitewashing the role of the Ancient One with Tilda Swinton. But then again whenever Marvel has made any change to any character, a subset of fans have gone off the wall.  Remember the casting of Col Fury or Heimdall, replacing the traditional roles of white characters? Well, it's happening again.

Marvel has replied:

Marvel has a very strong record of diversity in its casting of films and regularly departs from stereotypes and source material to bring its MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe] to life. The Ancient One is a title that is not exclusively held by any one character, but rather a moniker passed down through time, and in this particular film the embodiment is Celtic. We are very proud to have the enormously talented Tilda Swinton portray this unique and complex character alongside our richly diverse cast.

In other words: GET OVER IT!

Either way, it is what that is and here's the first teaser trailer for the film:

Trailers: LEGEND of TARZAN

Trailers: LEGEND of TARZAN

These two trailers are an interesting mix. We have the first teaser trailer, joined by the second one that shows a little bit more of the back story of this film version of Tarzan.  Maybe this time they'll get it right.

The Legend of Tarzan:

Despite the few attempts at a successful film presence, this time around might have some hope. The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård (HBO’s “True Blood”) as Tarzan, the legendary character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

It also stars Samuel L. Jackson (“Pulp Fiction,” the “Captain America” films), Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” “Gladiator”), John Hurt (“The Elephant Man,” the “Harry Potter” films), Jim Broadbent (“Iris”), and Christoph Waltz (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Django Unchained”).

The other piece of hope that I am holding out is that it is being directed by David Yates (the final four “Harry Potter” films, upcoming “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”).

THE ONE THING I see that they may have changed up a bit for this film is that they seem to be making Tarzan a friend of the animal kingdom once again.  (When I read the 24-book series as a youth, I had been shocked to learn that this Tarzan was not my cartoon character, but rather, a predator that kills anything in his way. But just maybe, this friendlier version will work with movie-goers this time around.)

The story goes as follows: It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Spike TV is ordering a 10-episode run to The Mist, a miniseries based on the Stephen King story of the same name.

A movie came out in 2007 directed by Frank Darabont and it had all the trademarks of King's work, with one hell of an ending that made my jaw drop.

The movie ending made the entire film, so I'm not sure how a miniseries will play out to that feel, but it could be worthy.

Regardless, it is a fun premise that might be worth checking out if they put together the right execs and cast for the job.

Right now it seems that per Ian Somerhalder, that the Vampire Diaries will be concluding at the end of its next, eighth season.

I'm not surprised. When Nina Dobrev left, it seemed a bit hollow or a different beast, no matter what they did.

Then again, this could be another example of when a show gets moved to a Friday time slot and then ratings slide.

Another Law and Order is coming our way...

David Twohy has a new film on the horizon, called Ice Moon Rising.

"The story centers on a mission to Europa, a moon of Jupiter that is covered in ice and may have an ocean underneath that could support life. Astronauts on a U.S. mission to the Jovian moon encounter an alien life form, and a male astronaut is infected with an untreatable ailment. "

His latest work has been on the Riddick-based movies, like Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick. But he's also pumped out

A Perfect Getaway, which is a fantastic film that never caught on,

The Arrival, Waterworld, The Fugitive and a few others.

He's also got a film on his mind that will take place in Riddick's world, called Furia.

EW is reporting that the newest Batman flick, the animated Batman: The Killing Joke, will be DC's first animated R-rated flick! Dang!

I find it curious how suddenly some folks are embracing the 'R' rating after Deadpool started setting movies for the 'R' rated category.

The producers of CW's Arrow know that we hate those flashbacks.

And they will keep making them, because, get this, " is seeing what a big difference it is between Oliver Queen in the present day and Oliver Queen five years ago," and they further say that, " "The way we write the story is still very much married to that backstory, and trying to change it up at this point would feel weird."

I don't know about you but I hate empty "spin."

As far as I'm concerned, the flashbacks are just time-fillers. Nothing more. I mean, when his life is in jeopardy in a flashback, um, well, we all know he'll live through it, so what's the point? Right?

Rita Repulsa from the new POWER RANGERS movie

Here's a shock:

Fear the Walking Dead has already been renewed by AMC for a third season.

Deadpool Two was officially announced, but then again, that seemed like a no-brainer, right?

20th Century Fox made it official at CinemaCon.

I'm not sure if this related to the rumored TV conflicts that Marvel has with its movie universe, but Marvel announced that their Inhuman movie is getting pushed back from its original release date of July 2019.

There have been new projects added to their lineup, like a Spider-Man movie and Ant-Man sequel and such.

We got a first-look glimpse at Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa from the upcoming new Power Rangers movie.

For some reason people don't like the look, but to be honest, WTF? Did you expect them to go with the giant goat horns the TV version wore? Really?

SENSE8 First Impressions From Cinema Static, And They Ain't Good

SENSE8 TV Review

I've been slowly trudging through the Netflix original series, Sense8. And to be honest, it is one seriously slow build to what ever story they are trying to tell us. Holy shit, my grass is growing faster than this plot!

The series synopsis, which has told me more in 15 seconds than the first six episodes, goes as follows:

Eight strangers around the globe find themselves connected -- first by a violent vision, then by their shared ability to connect with one another's thoughts and actions, and finally by the urgent need to find out what happened and why. Their need to know goes beyond simple curiosity as they pursue answers, a mysterious organization hunts them down, intent on destroying them. The intense thriller is the first foray into television (or, more accurately, Netflix) for renowned filmmakers Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski ("The Matrix Reloaded"), who created the series with J. Michael Straczynski ("Thor"). The international cast includes veteran actors known to U.S. audiences, like Daryl Hannah ("Kill Bill") and Naveen Andrews ("Lost"), and others well-known in their home countries, like German actor Max Riemelt and Doona Bae of South Korea. In keeping with the global premise of the series, shooting takes place all over the world, including London, Reykjavik, Nairobi and Mumbai.

- - -

They've spent six episodes of Sense8 developing the situation between all the main players or characters. And so far, aside from meeting all the characters, every episode has been the same, with characters getting confused while either swapping places in their heads or swapping locations and talking to each other, in person, telepathically.

Meanwhile, each person looks a little bonkers when they are having their out of body conversations or experiences.

IMDb user ratings have it an 8.4/10. Rotten Tomatoes shows a 67%.

I keep trying, but I'm not feeling the momentum of any story here. It. Is. Moving. Sludge slow. Which for me, is a surprise, considering this was put together by the Wachowskis in collaboration with J. Michael Straczynski (JMS).

THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! Premiering On Amazon

If you're old enough to remember The Thunderbirds and the string controlled characters, you are in for one heck of a treat.

This new CGI based series has already premiered in other places around the world, but has not made an appearance in the U.S. yet. But that's all about to change.

Amazon will launch Thunderbirds are Go on April 22nd to their Prime video service. And that makes me giddy since this used to be one of the few shows I watched as a kid.

For those that don't know the story line, it's about a team, a family, that has super cool toys and they run around the world saving people from various predicaments.

The voice cast includes Rasmus Hardiker, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Kayvan Novak, David Menkin, & Rosamund Pike.

CASTLE Season 9: The Final Season With NO KATE????

CASTLE may have a 9th season, but Stana Katic Exiting Show
With the ninth and final season of Castle looming on the horizon, it's bad enough that this procedural is coming to a close. But sources (Deadline Hollywood ) are also reporting that with the final season looming, ABC (AKA Disney) is looking to cut costs on the final season and one of those cost being cut is Stana Katic's contract.

On top of that, Tamala Jones will also be out of the final season of the show.

And then to top it off, it looks like ABC is looking to shorten the ninth season to a quick 13-episode count.

ABC has been in on  and off chats with Nathan Fillion since the beginning of the year but they haven't approached Katic yet.

Of course as Deadline inquired with ABC about the situation, their reply has been,

Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship."

Katic's comment about the situation, (Man I need to take notes!) was,

Rather then distract from what was an amazing experience, I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans.

The relationship with Castle and Beckett seemed to be the integral part of the show, but apparently not integral enough for the closing season.

Should We Bail on AMC Theaters If They Allow Texting?

If you text in a theater, we will sik John Wick on your ass.

4-14-16: I came across a piece on Variety that says that AMC Theaters will start allowing some texting during movies. WTF?

The man who has only been in charge of AMC theaters for almost four months, Adam Aron, who has quite the resume of where and whom he has worked for. But now he's in charge of AMC theaters and he seems to be thinking about allowing those Ahole texters to actually use their phones during movies.

He wants to appeal to younger movie-goers by adding this potential new feature to his chain of movie theaters.

Did he not learn anything when back in 2012 another theater chain suggested the same thing, and the public went berserk on them.

Part of the issue is that he wants more people coming to movie theaters.

He does recognize that the lynch mobs will be willing and ready to fry any cell phone user so he's trying to figure out a way to set this up to be as less intrusive than it could be.

The two thoughts he touched on are to either set aside sections of a theater for those who need to drag their electronic life into the theater with them or even setting aside theaters just for cell phone users who are unable to cut off their texting hand for a mere two hours.

But hey, they have to figure something out to stay afloat.

My gut reaction to allowing people to use their cell phones during movies is not a good one.

My first thought is how can I build a personal signal blocker so no one around me can use their phones. (Keep in mind, that's a joke. It is actually illegal to block the signals that cell phones use. That's why movie theaters have not done that before now)

With that said, my next thought is that if a movie theater can cut down on how much it costs a consumer to go see a movie, that would be a good start. I mean for two people to hit up a matinee and even consider the idea of a small drink and popcorn, that's an instant $30-40. Dudes, we can buy the movie for less than half that in just a few months!
