Affleck Steps Down From Directing BATMAN Film

Ben Affleck Steps Down From Directing BATMAN Film

Good News or Bad News For DC's BATMAN Film

I just caught the news today that Ben Affleck will not be directing the upcoming Batman film. He will still be starring as the character Bruce Wayne/Batman, but he will not be directing it. That still leaves him as producer and co-writer with Geoff Johns.

And this is what I see as either good or bad news.

The official statement that is associated with this announcement include:

"There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion, and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world."

Of course WB supports his decision.

Capaldi Leaving DOCTOR WHO

Capaldi Leaving DOCTOR WHO

Well, it's a official, Peter Capaldi is leaving Doctor Who, but then again so is Steven Moffat. Both are scheduled to be exiting at the end of the 2017 season, with Capaldi leaving during the 2017 Christmas Special.

And here we go again... yet another actor leaves the lead role of The Doctor. I swear, something must be afoot with working for that production, but the way the franchise is set up, it's immune to actor changes due to the peculiar and ingenious way of how they designed the lead character, with his regeneration skills.

Capaldi's statement upon his exit reads,

"One of the greatest privileges of being Doctor Who is to see the world at its best. From our brilliant crew and creative team working for the best broadcaster on the planet, to the viewers and fans whose endless creativity, generosity and inclusiveness points to a brighter future ahead. I can’t thank everyone enough. It’s been cosmic."

Not sure if you've been following along, but we caught wind of Capaldi's potential exit back in July of 2016, when rumors started floating about that Matt Smith might be returning to the series.

Though, why, if he's having a decent career, run, but hey, the point of this was that back in July the news was in the wind.

Then in early December we heard another rumor that the BBC wanted to reinvigorate franchise sales by looking to hire younger stars for the role.  Again, it was a rumor.  Plus this rumor is in conflict with today's report saying that with Moffat leaving, they had asked Capaldi to stay.

{ http://www.cinemastatic.org/2016/12/alan-tudyk-dirk-gently-doctor-who.html }

Then in late December Capaldi himself hinted at when his time is over with the role.

So there you have it.

Capaldi is leaving. Now the rush and wave of conjecture is about to commence on who will be the next Doctor. At least for at least the next few years!

News and Stuff

Well, you won't see Black-ish reruns anywhere any time soon. Hulu scooped up the exclusive rights to VoD streaming from Disney.

The CW is looking at a Charmed reboot or revival.

Harold Perrineau is joining Criminal Minds in a recurring role.

I’ll Have What Phil’s Having is moving from PBS to Netflix.

The X-Men TV series based on the story of two human parents and their mutant offspring, set in the X-Men universe, has been given a pilot order. Normally I'd be meh about it, but Matt Nix is writing and producing the pilot.  Don't forget, Legion is coming up on Fox too.  When you think Matt Nix, think Burn Notice and The Good Guys.

Archer is moving to FXX for their next and subsequent season. (I know, I know, I've said it before, but I'm just reminding you.)

Bates Motel fifth and FINAL season will premiere on February 20th.

Riverdale, the darker or more mature (?) version of the Archie comics, is debuting on January 26th. It's been called eerie and offbeat by Variety.

The CW announced renewals for the following shows:

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.,
DC's Legends of Tomorrow,
The Flash,
Jane The Virgin,
Supergirl and

Dish Nations was renewed by Fox for multiple seasons, through 2019.

Man in the High Castle was renewed by Amazon for a third season.

The Affair was renewed by Showtime for a fourth season.

Those Who Cant was renewed by TruTV for a third season.

60 Minutes Sports was cancelled by Showtime.

Frequency was cancelled by The CW.

Girl Meets World was cancelled by Disney. The series finale aired on January 20th.

No Tomorrow was canceled by The CW. Apparently it's title was its own foretelling.

POKEMON GO's Server Crash Set Me Free

Yesterday Niantic sent out an update to the Pokemon Go app. The only thing I had noticed was that my app was taking a lot longer to load. But no biggie.  Except that with the update, a few things were moved around. Like acknowledgement buttons.

Today when the server went down, a prompt came up saying it could not connect to the server. There was a button in the place that USED TO SAY OK to the statement. But with the update it seems that a few things had been moved around and instead of acknowledging the system error, I was logging out.

No biggie, I'll log back in.  HA HA HA HA.

Once I figured out which email address I had used, I tried to use their password retrieval process to get/change my password and log back in, but the system keeps saying that they don't have record of my email address. The very same email address that is the basis for my level 30 player account.

And their service support does not seem to want to re-associate my preferred email with the account. they keep telling me how to fix my end of the problem with a myriad of suggestions for fixing my phone. Um, guys, it's your system saying it does not have record of the email address you've even sent things to in the past! Dumb asses.

Well, I took one or two of their suggestions to heart...  I cleared my app's cache. I cleared the data content it was holding and I deleted it off my phone! And now I'm not chasing battery charges like a desperate addict. At 1% battery drain per minute, it was getting stupid, when even Google Maps doesn't even notch up that kind of drain. I'm looking up and seeing the world for what it is. I'm not wasting time or money walking to build up egg hatching points. (That of late was a total waste) I can listen to my music once again.

So now that I can't get back into my account, it's almost a fantastic revelation being let go by this game.

If they never get back to me with a satisfactory answer from there end, so be it! I don't think I'll miss the game that I've obsessed over since it's release. But hey, it was a fun distraction while it lasted, and I got it up to level 30, which isn't bad for someone with a life.

TV News for 1-18-17: FARGO, FULLER HOUSE, KILLING BIGFOOT, +2 more

The third season of Fargo, a very fun, gritty and excellent show, has a cast that's growing as we speak. So far, they have Ewan McGregor, Carrie Coon and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. They've also added David Thewlis, Michael Stulhbarg and Jim Gaffigan to the cast.

Fuller House was given a third season by Netflix.

Blunt Talk was cancelled by Starz after only two seasons.

Escaping the KKK, a show that WAS coming from A&E, found itself cancelled before it even aired.  Turns out that instead of a documentary, A&E had learned some cash was changing hands so some folks could be on the show. Oops. Are we surprised?  A&E said,

“While we stand behind the intent of the series and the seriousness of the content, these payments are a direct violation of A&E’s policies and practices for a documentary.  We had previously provided assurances to the public and to our core partners - including the Anti-Defamation League and Color of Change - that no payment was made to hate group members, and we believed that to be the case at the time.  We have now decided not to move forward with airing this project.”

The idiotic series, Killing Bigfoot, premieres on Destination America on Feb 4th.  They'll be on the hunt for Bigfoot with the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization.  To be honest, these groups were well intended but buckled to a quick buck and they tend to produce nothing but glorified bullshit these days. I watched one episode where they went to a location of a sighting that took place 10 years ago. The team camped out in the area and GUESS WHAT? They heard or saw mysterious activity that night around their camp. Give me a break!

In some sad news, one of the cast members of MTV's 16 and Pregnant, Valerie Fairman, died of a drug overdose recently. She was 23.

Was A Pokemon Spotted In The Real World?

The other day my wife called and said that the dog is looking at something growing out of our gutters.

This is Lark, from Vader's Disc Dog World, looking up at the new development:

And so I was wondering what it was she was staring at. Yes, my pup takes note of new things.

Here's a pic of the thing that Lark was looking at:

Do you see the leaves sticking up out of the gutter up there?

BAYWATCH OFFICIAL First Two Trailers, with Dwayne Johnson and bikini clad Alexandra Daddario

I just posted a piece on the CHiPs remake's first movie trailer, and not to be outdone, I figured I would post another trailer or two from another movie remake.

This time, the remake is an all T&A production/remake of Baywatch. Yes, you read right, Baywatch.

This time around, the subject seems to be taking itself way too seriously, as Johnson's monologue says "They go above and beyond" to protect what other people don't want to protect.

OWN Baywatch products, NOW.  On Amazon!
(OK, I just had to add that tongue in cheek pitch!)

"Baywatch follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Johnson) as he butts heads with a brash new recruit (Efron). Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay."

Despite the serious tone of the description, the director of Horrible Bosses is at the helm, and some of the snippets seem more humorous than expected.

"You don't get to say that, you're just tan."

"Everything you're saying sounds like an entertaining, but far-fetched TV show." (In the 2nd trailer.)

The cast of the film includes

Dwayne Johnson as Mitch Buchannon
Zac Efron as Matt Brody
Priyanka Chopra, Alexandra Daddario, Ilfenesh Hadera, Kelly Rohrbach, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Rob Huebel.

And yes, cameos of the original cast, like David Hasselhoff, if they can still stand upright.

The SECOND TRAILER has language. In fact, they have the same scene in both, one without and one with language! That's almost worth it to see that difference!!!  Right? Maybe?

OK, well, being a huge Rock fan, I might, MIGHT, line up behind the five other people, to go see this in the theaters. MIGHT.  Which does not mean will... it means if I'm not asleep, busy watching grass grow in the new dirt lot I call home, at work, asleep (at work), um... but there's a lot of skin, that's for sure.

Efron looks like a mini-Rock.

Oh, BTW, Johnson is one of the producers.

CHIPS Trailer: Where a Remake Meets 21 JUMP STREET

What the hell. The first movie trailer for the remake of the TV show, CHiPs came out this week, and to be honest, they skipped the entire tone of the original show, watched all the 21 Jump Street movies, and went for it.  Did you catch how both cops are in trouble and need to make this new assignment work out... much like it was in 21JS?

And from the looks of things, sadly.

There's a ton of homophobic humor in this first clip and at a moment or two, is actually kind of funny.

But because I was expecting a more serious tone to the film, (I did no research prior to this first trailer's release), I was taken aback by the overt, comedic tone of the trailer.

I'm a fan of both actors but at the moment, I do not feel compelled to be chomping at the bit to go see this. Unless someone paid me. I think.

Check out the first movie trailer for the remake of CHiPs

2017 Golden Globe Winners

Among the 2017 Golden Globe winners this year, I like that People v. O.J won a few spots, (Great show), while the most excellent mini-series, The Night Manager also won a few nods.

My personal favorite was Aaron Taylor-Johnson's win. It's been quite a trip from being Kick Ass!

But La La Land ate up seven wins.

Here's the list of 2017 Golden Globes Winners:

The Crown, Netflix

Billy Bob Thornton, Goliath

Claire Foy, The Crown

Atlanta, FX

Tracee Ellis Ross, black-ish

Donald Glover, Atlanta

People v. O.J. Simpson, FX

Today's tidbits of news includes bits about

Big Freedia Bounces Back,
Fast N' Loud,
Generation KKK,
Haters Back Off,
How I Met Your Father,
Major Crimes,
Rob & Chyna,
Somewhere Between,
The Honeymooners.

The CW is looking to reboot Charmed. BUT...  the reboot will be taking place in the 70's. No more details have been set, but with this reboot taking place before the original series, it could have interesting content to deliver. Though also being a reboot taking place long before the original, it seems glib that the original cast members will have any part of it.

Generation KKK is a new series from A&E about four families who have a family member who is trying to get out of the ill-fated club.

CBS is trying to develop a reboot of The Honeymooners. It will be exec produced by Bob Kushell (The Muppets.)  Hmm.

RENEWALS and Other Noise

Big Freedia Bounces Back was renewed by Fuse for a sixth season.  (Yea, I asked that same question you are in your head, right now.)

Haters Back Off was renewed for a second season on Netflix.

ARCHER Moving To FXX Network

ARCHER Moving To a New (ish) Network

Heads up fans, the upcoming eighth season of Archer will be moving over to FXX from FX.

On the bright side, that means it will stay on FXX until it ends its run after the 10th season. (Yes, it was renewed, like I told you guys back in the middle of July.)

No date has been officially announced by FXX for season 8 of Archer, BUT BE AWARE, your DVR will probably not follow it to the new network and you have to be aware to find the show in your search function as the date gets closer, then set that show to record.

I learned the hard way that one's DVR, as cool as it may be, isn't always as smart as you would hope it to be.

Impastor was cancelled by TV Land. (Wow, when TV Land cans your show, you ... well , you get it.)

Did you guys catch the premiere of Lip Sync Battle Shorties on Nickelodeon in early December? Mariah Carey would have killed it!!!

When you watch the Salem episode on Jan 18th, well, you should know it will be its last. WGN cancelled the show.
