DC's 'Before Watchmen' Prequel Preview Art

I'm sure you've heard of the prequel comic title, Before Watchmen, coming out from DC Comics, right?

Before Watchmen is the collective title banner for seven inter-connected prequel mini-series titles based on the characters from the Watchmen world.  And in DC Comic's announcement regarding some of their new websites, they've teased us with some Before Watchmen art!

Starting this summer, each week will see a new issue with new stories from our core of Watchmen vigilante heroes that fans were smitten by with the original comic title that came out in 1986.

Of the titles coming out, we're going to see multi-issue story arcs for each character.

For instance, J. Michael Straczynski put together a 4-issue Dr. Manhattan title and a 4-issue Nite Owl series.

There's a 4-issue Rorschach series and a 6-issue Comedian title, both by Brian Azzarello.

And then there's the 6-issue Minutemen and 4-issue Silk Spectre run from Darwyn Cooke while Len Wein brings out a 6-issue Ozymandias title.

It promises to be a great addition to the Watchmen material in the franchise and of course it makes one wonder, that if the comic title is received well enough, could we see another movie based off the prequel?

Food for thought!

  1. The man's name is Brian Azzarello, not Assarello.
