New Movies in Theaters This Week (Zero Dark Thirty, Gangster Squad)

What's new in movie theaters this week include smiting terrorists, smiting the good guy and things that go bump in the night!

-

Zero Dark Thirty

The cast includes Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Ehle, Harold Perrineau & Jeremy Strong in a movie that

"Chronicles of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May, 2011."

It's from director/producer Kathryn Bigelow.  Just in case you aren't focused on who a movie is directed by, you might want to take note that Kathryn's last movie that she pulled together was The Hurt Locker.  She knows what she's doing, she's done it well in the past and I expect this newest addition to her filmogrophy resume to be nothing less than fantastic.

Oh, and the movie already has a bunch of industry awards plus an oodle of nominations from Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes.

Gangster Squad

The cast includes Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Holt McCallany, Wade Williams, James Hébert, Ambyr Childers & Josh Brolin.

Gangster Squad "chronicles the LAPD's fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s."

It's directed by Ruben Fleischer (30 Minutes or Less, Zombieland).  Hmm... from comedic action to dramatic action?  We'll see how this pans out.

A Haunted House

The comedic parody of the ghostly kind, where we've seen strong hints at the Paranormal Activity inspirations.

The cast includes  Marlon Wayans, Marlene Forte, Essence Atkins, David Koechner, Dave Sheridan, Nick Swardson & Alanna Ubach.

"Malcolm and Keisha move into their dream home, but soon learn a demon also resides there. When Kisha becomes possessed, Malcolm - determined to keep his sex life on track - turns to a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters for help."
