'The Biggest Loser' 14th Season Premiere Observations

The Biggest Loser has returned to NBC for its 14th season.  What's new about this season is the addition of three children to the competition and the return of Jillian Michaals.  And that was the biggest focus for the first half of the episode, Jillian's special brand of weight loss love.

The Biggest Loser is addressing youth obesity by adding three kids to the show...  but they won't be at the ranch or getting yelled at.  They're going to be shown better ways to approach their own situation and chime in from home.

The players were divided up into three teams, under Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince.  (Was Jillian really gone from the show for 2 years?  Wow how time flies.)

White Team (Jillian)
Danni
Nathan
Nikki
Pam
TC

Red Team (Dolvett)
Cate
Francelina
Jackson
Joe
Lisa

Blue Team (Bob)
Alex
David
Gina
Jeff
Michael

And Jillian was all over her team.  But all the trainers were.

Of course, Alison Sweeney returns once again and she's looking as wonderful as ever.  (Did you know she runs marathons?)

The usual traumatic workouts ensued, with contestants being shown just how hard of a workout regime they'll be facing.  Some fell, some swooned, some got on with it.  But it was pretty new for everyone involved.

As the episode wore on, we had our first casualty with 26-yr-old Nikki bailing on Jillian's team and the camp because she was having problems hacking the initial workout regime that Jillian had bestowed on her team in the first week.

Later at the weigh-in, folks were losing a bunch of weight.  But Jillian lost a 2nd contestant to the scale.  This week, the player who lost the least percentage of weight went home.  No voting, just a lack of loss.

TC went home, and his update showed us that he lost 40 more pounds since the camp and that he and his family have learned a healthier lifestyle.

The end of the episode showed us a preview of the upcoming season of The Biggest Loser.  It should be interesting.
