'True Blood:' Who was Bob Thompson?

During the season six premiere of True Blood, you might have caught the quick memorial to Bob Thompson, that read,

In Loving Memory,
Bob Thompson
1955-2013

To be clear, I have not found solid corroborating information (an online obit) to verify that what info I found is the person they reference, but usually production companies are very considerate of their own team members.  The crews, like family.

With that said,

There was one Robert L. Thompson whose credited IMDb years range from 1994 to 2012.

From 2009 to 2012 he was the construction and general foreman for HBO's True Blood.

Robert also worked on 14 movie projects, including 1996's Twister, 1999's The Insider, 2004's The Terminal and Joss Whedon's Serenity as the propmaker foreman.

His last movie work was on Edge of Darkness (2010).  Per his IMDb page.

Who ever Bob was, it's always sad to see memorials like this on our favorite shows.

If I find collaborating info, I will update this piece.

Our thoughts go out to those who knew Bob.

  2. I love the contribution Anon, but I think the info on IMDb is confusing me.
The original memorial on the show said 1955 to 2013.
This Bob Thompson you point to was born in 1924.

(Remember, IMDb can be updated by any and all users who sign up. And in my experience, sometimes, rare, but sometimes, one can get misled by the info there. Trust me on that one! I've been stung)

I think a well-meaning user updated the wrong bio. But hey, I'm willing to be proven wrong!
