'Sharknado' Performs As Expected in Theaters

Despite around five million viewers having tuned in to the three Syfy channel screenings of Sharknado,  It crashed horribly at its midnight screenings around the country this weekend.  I know, shocking, isn't it?

In other news... some people actually spent money at the theater to see Sharknado!

THR reports that they have sources informing them that the TV-to-movie-theater movie took in under $200,000 in ticket sales.

Now this isn't the official report, but still, I'm a bit shocked that they got that close to $200k to be able to mention it.

The Regal movie chain had screened it at around 200 locations in the US.

Ya know, it's one thing when a TV movie trends on Twitter while folks are drinking their asses off... it's another to try to capitalize on social media momentum of a film of this...  "caliber" at the theater.  I've only known of a few movies that went from TV to movie theaters.  And usually, they move it to another country to do it.  (Clue!)
