'Godzilla' 2014 Trailer Premiere Rumors - Could They Be Right?

If you've been hovering over the web, waiting for any news on the Gareth Edwards Godzilla 2014 movie, then you probably caught it when the trailer accidentally hit the web.

It caused quite the sensation amongst the fans on the web, while it lasted.  Now whether this was a slip, a slight retribution from Legendary (for WB's cutting ties with them) or one of those marketing tests or "Leaked" items that studios tend to let happen, well who knows.

But if you saw it, it was cool and bordered on epic.  (I mean, how far can a trailer go towards being epic? Really?)  Until it was pulled by WB within hours of appearing.

The trailer showed a city destroyed, bodies everywhere, the body of another giant monster (Kaiju) and Godzilla rearing his head out of the mist and roaring.

All to the narrative backdrop of the dialog from "Now I am Become Death, the Destoyer of Worlds."

With the words as a backdrop to the devastation we're shown, it creates a great effect for the trailer I saw.

Regardless, it got Godzilla communities squirming for more, wondering when the trailer will finally and officially appear?

Traditionally, one will start seeing an early trailer or clip around 6 months prior to a movie's relese date.  Then after a while, we start getting more spoilers... I mean clips and trailers.  (OK, most movies keep their preview material restricted to the opening act.)

With that said, I'm seeing some rumors that have caught my attention because of the timing of the supposed release date.

Gojira (Godzilla) 1954

First note is that the original Godzilla movie premiered 59 years ago, on November 3rd, 1954.

Godzilla (2014) is due out in theaters on May 16th, 2014.

Rumors have it that a/the trailer/clip is coming out on November 3rd, 2013.  Which is just about 6 months prior to the movie's release date.'

So this rumor is matching up with what I"m expecting.

Except that it might be close to that date.  Nov 3rd 2013 is a Sunday, so my guess at the moment is that the premiere might be an online premiere.  IF this date is a good guess.

Otherwise, Ender's Game opens on Friday, Nov 1 and the week after, Thor: The Dark World opens Friday, November 8th.  I'd guess if it does come out around then, that it would be attached to either of these films.

Godzilla 2014
stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and is directed by Gareth Edwards.  Edwards came to notoriety from his self-made movie Monsters.  It too dealt with giant monsters, but as spawn who hitched a ride on a returning satellite, which crashed to earth, unleashing the hazard.  Most of the movie followed a few folks and their story.  The monsters were always in the backdrop, keeping you wondering when/if they'll ever come forth and threaten our stars.  It was a good movie actually.

Frank Darabont last touched the script, David S. Goyer penned the story.

Mary Parent, who sat on the production team of Pacific Rim, is part of the production staff on Godzilla 2014.  (I only mention her because she's been a Joss Whedon supporter since way back when he wasn't cool to the masses.)
