'Agents of SHIELD' Gets A Full Season Order from ABC

Agents of SHIELD gets full season order

ABC is committing to their Marvel Cinematic Universe TV edition, and has given Agents of SHIELD a full season order by the network.

Which is a pretty strong sign of commitment from the Disney owned network considering the slope the TV ratings have been on for the show.

Below are the numbers since the premiere, with the premiere having pulled in 12.1 million viewers.

18-49 / Millions of viewers
4.7     12.1
3.1/10   8.4
2.8      7.8

What's not shown here is how well the show is doing in the time-shifted viewing realm, where they're setting some good solid numbers in the live+3 (Live viewing plus 3 days) category.

And this gives the production team plenty of time to get the story out and do justice by it.

As it stands, folks I'm reading are not enthused as much by the show is they could be.

As far as I'm concerned, the mystique of Agent Coulson is gone.  He's a regular guy rather than the stoic sub-hero in most every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

But the show seems written in such a way that the creators don't trust us, the viewer.  I say that because of how often they make mention of various factors, like Coulson's rehab, Tahiti, the Avengers fight, all, statements tossed out at us by or about Agent Coulson.

But now, they have time to keep the momentum going and to see what they pull out of the Marvel universe to throw out our new SHIELD team.  And to work on those back-stories of all the characters, not just our hactivist.

So we'll see.
