TV News For the Week Ending Friday, 2-28-14

It's been a relatively standard week for TV news, with some announcements for series premiere dates, a few renewal announcements, and other tidbits.  Check out it out below, from the collective of press releases I got this week:

-

TV Show Return Dates

America's Got Talent comes back for season 9 on May 27th.

American Ninja Warrior will return on May 26th. (It's a fun show to catch at least once, and watch some of these athletes do what they do.)

My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding will be returning on April 3rd on TLC.

Storage Wars fifth season premieres on March 18th, 2014 on A and E.

TV Show Renewal News

Arsenio Hall Show has been renewed for a second season by CBS.

Broad City has been renewed by Comedy Central for a second season.

Investigation Discovery has renewed A Stranger in my Home (2nd season) and Fatal Vows for a third season.

Looking was renewed for a second season by HBO.

Ripper Street was renewed by BBC for a third season and Amazon acquired UK subscription streaming rights.  "Amazon will commission from the producers, Tiger Aspect Productions and Lookout Point, a third series of Ripper Street, with brand new episodes made available exclusively to Amazon Prime Instant Video members. The series will continue to be co-produced in the US by BBC America and will screen on BBC1 a few months after it is available on Amazon in the UK. It will be distributed globally by BBC Worldwide. Filming will begin in May 2014, signaling Amazon's commitment to the production of one of last year's most highly regarded series, in a move that is sure to delight Ripper Street's huge global fan base."

Dancing with the Stars cast, if you're curious, will be revealed on Tuesday, March 4th on Good Morning America.

As if that isn't enough, you're in luck if you're an Erin Andrews fan, because she's replacing the ousted/dropped Brooke Burke-Charvet.

Andrews is nice to look at, but gads, that voice!

Heroes is coming back. Sort Of.

NBC is planning on a stand-alone story line that will air in 2015 titled Heroes Reborn.

It will be a 13-episode mini-series from the original showrunner, Tim Kring.

The show will be heralded by a digital series before the show, where they'll introduce the characters.  I haven't seen news of any of the original cast returning, but anything is possible.

How are you feeling about this series returning?

-

For the Jennifer Lopez fan, I bet you'll be happy to hear that she'll be starring in a new NBC drama called Shades of Blue.

Jennifer Lopez will play a dirty cop who ends up going undercover for the FBI in an anti-corruption unit.

It will air during the 2015-2016 TV season.

-

Piers Morgan got cancelled by CNN.  The final telecast date has not been announced yet.
