HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE

“Spinning Out of Control” – Premieres Tuesday, November 3 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT

Anthony Melchiorri is in Galena, Ill., to help the Grant Hills Motel. Reservations are taken manually, paint is chipping off the drab exterior, the rooms are outdated and communal areas are cramped and dangerous. Underneath the bedspread, Melchiorri finds a venomous wolf spider. To top that, his Hygiene-O-Meter detects bio-pollutants on every surface he tests in the room; in fact the air conditioning filter is so disgusting that it breaks the device! Meanwhile, the guest laundry facility also functions as the boiler room and storage. It’s a dingy, dangerous place accessible only by a treacherously dangerous staircase. Ramona and her husband, Bill, own the motel, while Ramona’s sister, Renee, manages the property. But jealousy and animosity between them runs deep – they now avoid each other completely. Melchiorri calls in a therapist to mediate. While the Grant Hills Motel is struggling with occupancy, the Blaum Brothers Distillery – which sits right next door – is the most popular attraction in Galena. Melchiorri meets with the brothers to coordinate a partnership with the motel. He then tasks designer Anitra Mecadon with renovating the property, reassesses the roles and titles of Ramona, Bill and Renee and gives the motel an overhaul to bring it into the 21st century. But none of this matters if the sisters can’t improve their deteriorating relationship.
