New Movies This Friday, 3-9-12: 'John Carter,' 'Silent House'

This week the new movies at the box office include the cast talent of Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Elizabeth Olsen, Megan Fox, Kristen Wiig, Eddie Murphy, Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor & an obscure film with Christian Slater.

From evil spirits, fly-fishing, spiritual gurus, platonic relationships w/ kids, scary houses and humans on foreign planets, we seem to have a wide variety of movie subjects coming to theaters this week.

But the question is, can any of them dethrone The Lorax from it's box office crown?  Probably not but hey, only time will tell, and that time comes when the new movies open on Friday, March 9th, 2012!

Check out what movies are opening this Friday:

John Carter

Transplanted to Mars, a Civil War vet discovers a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess who is in desperate need of a savior.

Directed by Andrew Stanton (Toy Story film franchise), and starring quite the collective of acting chops:  Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, Mark Strong, CiarĂ¡n Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Bryan Cranston and Polly Walker... wow!

Despite the lackluster marketing at the early stages of the public campaign for John Carter, I've seen some interesting new marketing material and I've seen some decent word-of-mouth from peers who have seen it already.

Hence, I think I'm headed to see John Carter this Friday.
