About 'Godzilla' 2014 movie
The other day I was in a movie theater and they were showing trailers for upcoming movies.  The folks around me mistakenly thought the Pacific Rim movie trailer was a new Godzilla movie.  They had no idea that there was a Godzilla movie under production right now.

I fixed that right away!

This newest version of Godzilla is due out in movie theaters on May 14th, 2014.

It's being produced by Disruption Entertainment (Mary Parent), and distributed by Warner Bros..

They've filmed and are filming in various locations
  • Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada
  • O'ahu, Hawaii, USA
  • Steveston, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada
  • Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

It's directed by Gareth Edwards, who gained attention by his work creating the 2010 movie called Monsters.  (It's a pretty good movie.)  That amazing part was that the movie was shot a serious shoe-string budget and the effects for the monsters was done with desktop software in his home office.

Yea, that caught everyone's attention.

The screenplay has been wrangled by Frank Darabont (The Mist; on TV: The Walking Dead) and the story has David S. Goyer's (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight franchise) work in it.

-

The cast of Godzilla includes  Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Sally Hawkins and a full cast of lizard stomping fodder.

I like that fact that the cast has some credibility.  And that the creative team behind the movie has some great credibility.

Godzilla has been a timeless corner piece of the science fiction movie world since that first movie back in 1954.  I remember as a kid, setting my alarm to get up at 2 in the morning so I can watch the big green guy when his movies hit the small screen.  (Yep, I just gave away what era I grew up in.)

On top of all this, it would seem that Warner Bros. is bringing the radioactive lizard to the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con.  The big green guy already has a mural on a side of a building in San Diego...

Money says that's 'zilla, looking to the right.  That's is one big red eye.  Others think it might be another creature from the movie.
