SENSE8 To Stay Cancelled, BLACK PANTHER First Teaser Trailer

Marvel's Black Panther first teaser trailer came out and it's a great mix of something that feels new from Marvel, a film about a 'third world' country that's hiding its true identity. Interesting premise.

Add that to the allure that Chadwick Boseman brought to the character in the last Captain America film, was quite inviting. The Black Panther cast, besides Boseman, includes

Michael B. Jordan,
Lupita Nyong'o,
Danai Gurira,
Martin Freeman,
Daniel Kaluuya,
Angela Bassett,
Forest Whitaker &
Andy Serkis.

Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) directs off a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole (American Crime Story, upcoming Inhumans TV series.).

In case you had not heard the news, Netflix cancelled Sense8. And to be honest, I'm not clear I was surprised. They had an ambitious story to tell, but the mind swapping of characters may have been taking its toll on viewers.

When characters were seeing each other's views or taking their place at the oddest or weirdest of times, well, it was interesting for sure, but I think there were too many characters swapping brains. Period.

Now the fans are going nuts, flooding the network with their pleas to change their minds, but here's what the network had to say about it:

“To our Sense8 family…We’ve seen the petitions. We’ve read the messages. We know you want to #RenewSense8, and we wish we could #BringBackSense8 for you. The reason we’ve taken so long to get back to you is because we’ve thought long and hard here at Netflix to try to make it work but unfortunately we can’t. Thank you for watching and hope you’ll stay close with your cluster around the world. #SensatesForever”

It seems that with the second season coming two years after the show debuted, the network was having a tough time renegotiating contracts for the cast. All their options had expired.

My guess is that there was also a lack of ratings that hurt the entire process too, because frankly, if the show had good or great ratings, they would have made it work. Right?

So for now, the second current season will be its last.
