TV News: 'Grimm' Renewed

If you're liking the Buffy vibe from NBC's monster hunting series, Grimm, you have yourselves some good news today.

Media Insights is reporting the TV news that the Friday night series has been picked up for a second season.  The number of episodes is not known yet, but it is noted that Grimm is doing better than the show it replaced in the time slot, Dateline.

I know it's important to fill a slot with viewers for the folk that pay the bills, making the TV show possible, but I'm not sure that's a great comparison.

Any how...  this is the first of the brand new series that showed up on NBC that they've committed a second season to.  Other newbie anti-hits like The Playboy Club, Free Agents and Prime Suspect have been let go.

Grimm stars David Giuntoli as Nick Burkardt, a Grimm, which is like a slayer.  Grimms can see supernatural creatures, and the creatures tend to fear Grimms.  It's his job to keep the balance between humans and the mythological.

Other cast includes Russell Hornsby (Lincoln Heights) as Nick's partner, Hank,  (They're cops)  Bitsie Tulloch, Silas Weir Mitchell (My Name is Earl, Prison Break), Sasha Roiz (Warehouse 13, Caprica) and Reggie Lee (No Ordinary Family, Persons Unknown, Prison Break).

"Grimm" is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales.Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, "Turn The Beat Around") discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world.
