Travel Channel Renews Eight Favorite TV Series

Hey Travel Channel fans!  Bruce here.  I know I have a few site readers who follow the TTC news here, and I thought I'd pass along the news that the network has renewed eight, count them, EIGHT, of their popular TV series for the upcoming 2013 TV show season!

Amongst the lineup of renewed series, we have Airport 24/7, Baggage Battles, Bizarre Foods, Dangerous Grounds, The Dead Files, Ghost Adventures, Hotel Impossible, and Mysteries at the Museum.

CHEVY CHASE, MD (January 22, 2013) – Travel Channel continues to grow its library of original travel entertainment programming and has renewed eight of its most popular series to air in 2013: "Airport 24/7: Miami," "Baggage Battles," "Bizarre Foods America" with Andrew Zimmern, "Dangerous Grounds," "The Dead Files," "Ghost Adventures, "Hotel Impossible" and "Mysteries At The Museum." The diverse and expansive content of the returning shows spotlights the world's most fascinating locations, guided by knowledgeable hosts in their respective fields. The announcement was made today by Laureen Ong, President, Travel Channel.

"AIRPORT 24/7: MIAMI" (13 x 30)
Season two of "Airport 24/7: Miami" brings back the nine larger-than-life characters whose jobs it is to keep one of America's largest airports running around the clock.  The series grants an all-access pass inside the intense and dramatic world of Miami International Airport, considered a Category X airport, a prime target for a terrorist attack. With nearly 40 million passengers a year it's an airport the size of a small city. Whether it's intercepting drug smugglers, fighting terrorism, securing an Air Force One landing, handling medical emergencies or dealing with sting operations and aircraft malfunctions, "Airport 24/7: Miami" reveals what travelers typically don't see.

"BIZARRE FOODS AMERICA" WITH ANDREW ZIMMERN (10 x 60)
"Bizarre Foods America" is coming back for a new season with another helping of stateside adventures as chef, writer, and culinary explorer Andrew Zimmern continues his quest to taste the weird and wonderful foods that can be found right here in the US.  In the eighth season of the "Bizarre Foods" franchise, Zimmern is ready to tempt and test his palate in some of America's favorite cities including Houston, St. Louis and New York City.

Coffee magnate and adventurer Todd Carmichael returns for a second season of "Dangerous Grounds" He continues to hunt down rare strains of coffee in some of the most fascinating and unseen places in the world.  Whether he's sleeping under his truck to avoid being detected by notorious criminals or using makeshift repairs to fix a broken engine, Carmichael risks it all tracking his way from villages to mountain enclaves where the best coffee fruit hides.  Travel is his life, and coffee fuels his passion for adventure.  And buying directly from the growers means Carmichael must encounter danger and opposition from entrenched middlemen. There's an amazing story behind every cup!

"THE DEAD FILES" (13 x 60)
"The Dead Files" returns for a fourth season of all-new compelling investigations, featuring the extraordinary paranormal investigative duo Steve DiSchiavi and Amy Allan. DiSchiavi, a retired NYPD Homicide Detective, and Allan, a medium, combine their unique skills to solve unexplained paranormal phenomena in haunted locations across the U.S. The team investigates each case from their specific area of expertise: DiSchiavi investigates the facts behind each location, interviewing eyewitnesses and local experts, and Allan channels the dead in her quest to understand what spirit activity lies within. Each investigator's methods and findings are kept hidden from the other, in order to preserve the integrity of their findings. DiSchiavi and Allan come together only at the end, to reveal the results as they formulate into one shocking – and often terrifying – conclusion.

In a thrilling eighth season, the "Ghost Adventures" trio – comprised of lead paranormal investigator Zak Bagans along with fellow investigators Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin – takes viewers on a journey to some of the most terrifying and haunted locations to date. The team travels the country to uncover and capture electrifying paranormal activity. Interviewing witnesses and historians, they collect the stories behind each haunting to later confront the ghosts head-on during their dusk-to-dawn lockdowns.  The crew then reviews their findings, along with their team of AV experts and specialists – some of the best in the paranormal field.

"HOTEL IMPOSSIBLE" (13 x 60)
For some hotel owners, bringing in hotel "fixer" Anthony Melchiorri is their last hope! Back for a third season, "Hotel Impossible," featuring Melchiorri with over 20+ years of experience in the hospitality business, helps turn struggling hotels into bustling tourist destinations. Every episode features a hotel either not living up to its potential or on the verge of closing. Melchiorri assesses each property and identifies its biggest problems. He then meets with the staff – from the owners and general managers, down to front desk receptionists and housekeeping – and determines the key operation issues. Joining Melchiorri on location are a variety of highly experienced designers including Blanche Garcia, Casey Noble and Alison Victoria, who will help transform key spaces in each hotel.  As in earlier seasons, Melchiorri has just days to convince the hotel staff and owners to let go of the reins, formulate a plan, revamp the hotel and re-motivate its staff.
