The Twelfth 'Doctor Who' And Where He Comes From Is...

The latest actor to fill the show of Doctor Who has been announced, and it's Peter Capaldi.  Capaldi appeared in a previous episode of Doctor Who, titled "The Fires of Pompeli," back in 2008.

We most recently saw him in World War Z as one of the W.H.O. Doctors...  (Seriously, what are the odds???), and In the Loop.

On TV, he's been in The Hour and The Thick of It.  (No, nothing domestic.)  But he's been in Torchwood: Children of Earth, so we might have caught him there.

Overall, he's been in 30 movies and 70+ TV roles.

We can commence the complaining now.

When Matt Smith was announced as the new Doctor a few years back, people were in an uproar about the youthfulness of the actor.  Folks seemed to lose sight of the core of the franchise, that being of a time traveling kind of alien that resurrects in any way, shape or form.

No one could wrap their minds around the youthful skin on the old Doctor.

Now, we have a guy who can be visually embraced to portray the 900-year-old character.

The writing should be the same so the stories should not vary too much.  But the delivery of the character will be different and interesting to see.

I can't wait to see Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who.

Though, I will have to wonder how long he'll last in the role?
