The CW's Beauty and the Beast 2nd season premiere has come and gone, and the team behind the show has changed up a few things on us... at least for now.

SPOILERS for the time-shifted viewer ensues.

Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan in 'Beauty and the Beast' season premiere review

The season premiere opens three months after Vincent (Jay Ryan) was captured in the previous season finale. In the last three months Catherine (Kristin Kreuk) and J.T. (Austin Basis) have been tirelessly scouring any and all sources trying to find Vincent.

They finally locate Vincent, and Catherine, being Catherine, goes to intervene in the process he's in the middle of.  That, being the "hit" on a specific target, the man who originally created the program that started Vincent was a part of.

Ah, the changes about the show come quick and obvious, some good, some interesting.

Apparently in the last three months, Vincent has undergone some changes, and is now willingly on mission.

Another change is Vincent himself.  He no longer has his facial scar.  So if you're first looking at him and wondering if it's really him or not, it is.

He also seems more powerful, faster, more resilient to drugs that used to stop him in his tracks previously.

But he also seems to not be able to heal himself any more.

Oh, and he can also change from man to beast on a whim at any time and very quickly.

Oh wait, I forgot something... he does not know anyone.

But that doesn't stop Catherine from following him around like a lost puppy.  And amazingly, keeping up with him!

And that on more than one occasion, we've heard the phrase "It's meant to be."  For different reasons.

That worries me, that this phrase showed up in 2 conversations between two different sets of characters.

But otherwise, the show is back, and with this new twist where Vincent is working for a new group and not remembering anything, it's coming back with a fresh new concept.  That and when pressed with questions, insists they stop asking.

At least for now.  I hope they stick with this new twist and don't fall back on the old story from the first season of Beauty and the Beast.

(And yes, I've left out a few developments so that you'll be surprised when you do see the ep)
