Entertainment News for the Week Ending Friday, 2-7-14

Well, let's take a quick peek at what's taken place this week for any developments of TV shows or movies that I haven't already covered earlier this week.  Much of the news is about premiere dates or what not, but check it out.

First up,

The Olympics are on, so many networks are running reruns over the next few weeks.  So if you don't see anything new for your favorite shows, that's why.

For instance, FX's Archer will be back on Feb 24th, Justified will return on Feb 25th.  Chozen, Feb 24th.

Fox has said "See ya!" and has announced that they cancelled The X Factor.

Lionsgate has announced that they'll continue with the production of The Hunger Games Mockingjay with a digitally produced (CGI) Philip Seymour Hoffman.  Man, that will be weird.

If you like TNT's Cold Justice, you're in luck.  They've ordered six more episodes for this second season, giving you a total of 16 episodes.

Dick Clark's New Year Show with Ryan Seacrest will go on forever... or at least, until 2023/24 with the new contract that's been signed between all parties.

AMC is looking for their next big hit, and have greenlit a series based on another popular 90's comic titled Preacher. 

"The project will be executive produced and written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This is the End). Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse."

Starz DaVinci's Demons is returning for season 2 on March 22nd, 2014.

Discovery Channel's Amish Mafia premieres its second season on February 25th, 2014.

Here's an odd one:  TLC has renewed or ordered 35 more episodes of Sex Sent Me to the ER.  Yes, it's a show depicting funny or interesting situations that sent daring humans to the ER.

TLC's The Little Couple Returns for their sixth season on March 4th.

There's a real fascinating RUMOR that The Rock will be playing Green Lantern John Stewart in Batman Vs. Superman movie.  Or it's a huge redirect to keep fans off balance.

That would be cool if he did land the role.

Netflix Renewed House of Cards for a third season.
