Cable TV Observations:

Have you noticed on the FX VoD on Comcast, they now give you the banner telling you what the show is rated, but then, instead of going into the show like it used to, that it hits an ad now?

What the heck is up with the VoD service when one of the advertising segments is about the show you are watching? We are already watching people!  Really?

TV ads these days are so abrupt.  It used to be that a scene would end and fade, then the commercial would come to life.  But now-a-days, before the scene ends, and even before sentences are finished, ads slam onto the picture, desperately trying to pack in as much ad time as possible these days.

Comic Book Men

AMC likes how the show has been doing, and has announced that they renewed Comic Book Men for its fourth season.

-

Continuum

REMINDER:

Season three of Continuum returns for its third season on Friday, April 4th, 2014.

If you recall:

"At the end of Season 2, Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen) made the Earth-shattering decision to hijack Kiera's (Rachel Nichols) chance to get home, in order to save Emily, the girl he loves, from certain death.

This act of desperation condemned Kiera to incarceration by the Freelancers, who are 'collecting' time travelers to protect history. Now, Kiera must face the consequences of Alec's betrayal and somehow escape the Freelancers."

In The Flesh

Via Press Release:

BBC AMERICA’s critically acclaimed zombie mini-series, In The Flesh, returns for a second season, Saturday, May 10, 10:00pm ET/PT.  Creator, Dominic Mitchell, reignites the world of teenager Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry), a PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferer who continues in his struggle to find acceptance.  The six-parter is a BBC AMERICA co-production with BBC Drama Production North.

JIM HENSON’S CREATURE SHOP CHALLENGE

Syfy has reported that the premiere episode of Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge has cranked out more than 1 million viewers, making it "... the channel’s highest-rated unscripted premiere among Adults 25-54 (628K) since July 2013 during its telecast on Tuesday, March 25."

" the series averaged 1.12 million total viewers and 585K Adults 18-49, while proving especially strong among women demographics."

I haven't caught it yet, but plan to!

-

Mind Games

What did I say a few weeks back?  That the show is way too smart for your average Nielsen family?  Yea, well, Mind Games was a smart show, and I thought it had a fascinating premise to it, as it dared to divulge the underbelly of the world of advertising and marketing.

But be it as it may, ABC had to cut its loses and has cancelled Mind Games.

The show was pulled from the schedule, effective immediately.

Yep, that's bad.

Reminder: Mountain Monsters Season 2 Premieres Friday, April 4 at 10/9c on Destination America

-

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland:

I didn't even know/remember this show was on, and apparently it didn't take that well with other viewers either, as ABC has cancelled this spinoff.

ABC will let the show finish out its 13-episode season, is it concludes on April 3rd.

-

Vikings

The second season hasn't even hit the half-way point yet, but Vikings was renewed by The History Channel for a third season already.

They gave it a 10-episode order.

-

DON'T FORGET:  The Walking Dead season finale is this Sunday.  Boo.  I'll miss the show.  It's one of the few I truly look forward to each week.
