Kurt Sutter Developing SONS OF ANARCHY Spinoff for FX - Yes!

SONS OF ANARCHY Spinoff news

When Sons of Anarchy was coming to an end, word on the street, in the form of hushed rumors, was that SOA creator Kurt Sutter was working on a spinoff or prequel to the popular biker gang series on FX. And that was good to hear, whether it be true or not. We wanted it because TV fans just suffered one hell of a final season of Sons of Anarchy and needed solace.

According to reputable sources out there, Sutter is working on a spinoff based on the Mayans Motorcycle Club, who were based out of the Oakland, CA region.

TV fans begin to drool...

Right now Sutter is focusing on his new show, The Bastard Executioner, premiering on Sept. 15th, and to be honest, I would rather see him focus on one thing at a time because when he's focused, he's on target.

The SOA spinoff is in early development stages, and Sutter being Sutter, is mum about the details. This means we don't know anything more about it.

We don't know WHEN, in the SOA universe the stories take place, if we'll see any veteran members from SOA show up or any Mayans that we've come to know, like president Marcus Alvarez (played by Emilio Rivera).

I'm wondering if that ghost girl will show up here too? Or if it will be calls the Sons of Mayans? Or Mayan Sons? Or just The Mayans? Or simply, Sons of Anarchy: The Mayans? I know that SOA was titled after the club itself, so I am just having some fun here.

Regardless, SOA was a good series for FX. The series grew in viewer numbers every season, unlike most television series, making it the most watched series in the network's history.

I miss that show, but as Sutter once put it in an interview, there are only so many ways you can create a bike chase scene before it gets too old. (Paraphrased) But he was smart enough to know when it was time to bow out of  a story.

So there's that! And that is awesome news.
