Who Was Wes Craven

Wes Craven was born on August 2nd, 1939 and passed away on August 20th, 2015 at the age of 76, having succumb to his battle with brain cancer.

In case you live in a cave and was wondering, Wes Craven liked to stab and slash people and was an iconic figure in the world of Hollywood, having created an amazing legacy of horror/slasher films through the years.

His credits include 78 film titles and 19 television projects, including the present-day series Scream The TV Series.

He has won 10 entertainment awards for his work at terrifying us.

From IMDb: {Craven has always had an eye for discovering fresh talent, something that contributes to the success of his films. While casting A Nightmare on Elm Street, Craven discovered the then unknown Johnny Depp. Craven later cast Sharon Stone in her first starring role for his film Deadly Blessing. He even gave Bruce Willis his first featured role in an episode of TV's mid-80's edition of The Twilight Zone.}

You can see from his films that he created quite the collective of genre films, and how well received some of them were.

A Nightmare on Elm Street had a $2M budget and made almost $30M
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge  had the same run.
The third film in this series had a $5M budget and pulled in $45M.

As time went on many of his big-name films had the same box office performance. From what one can say after seeing his resume is that that the man loved to cut, slab, dice and maime his characters!

Rather than going on and on, I think I will let his resume speak for itself, with a listing of selected titles:
