HOUDINI and DOYLE, HALT and CATCH FIRE, LOST IN SPACE, MISS TEEN USA

Lost in Space

If you're a fan from yesteryear of the sci-fi series Lost in Space, you might have some new episodes to look forward to. If it's done right.

Word on the street is that Netflix is revamping the show, ordering a 10-episode season from Legendary TV. It is set to premiere in 2018 sometime.

It seems like they will try to model the new show after the original, where it touched on both drama and comedic aspects of being stuck out in space with no way home.

Houdini and Doyle

People keep wondering if there will be a second season of the insightful and intelligent series, Houdini and Doyle? Don't know yet is the quick answer.

Inspired by true events, the series follows two great men of the 20th Century and real-life friends – HARRY HOUDINI (Weston), master magician, escape artist and paranormal debunker; and SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE (Mangan), prolific writer, creator of “Sherlock Holmes” and paranormal aficionado. They grudgingly join forces with New Scotland Yard to investigate unsolved, inexplicable and possibly supernatural crimes, alongside the first female Constable of the London Metropolitan Police Force, ADELAIDE STRATTON (Rebecca Liddiard, “Man Seeking Woman”).

The show is a  British-Canadian-American production, originally airing on ITV in the UK, then aired on Fox in the U.S..

Fans have been asking, as one reader asked me, if it will be coming back for a second season. Her presumption was no because it was a great series and she liked it. Sigh. And to date, there's been no news on whether ITV has or will be ordering a second season or not.

Here in the U.S., it premiered to just over 2.6M viewers, but as the season wore on, over on Fox, the ratings have drooped to just around 1.75M viewers.

The key demographic of viewer ratings went from a 0.7/2 to a 0.4/1.

The first number is the rating, the second number is the share.

Rating: Estimated percentage of TV households tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.

Do I think there will be a second season here in the U.S.? I think the numbers are a tad low and unless it's some kind of deal for Fox where the can rebroadcast on the cheap, I don't think so.

But it's way way early to figure that out. The show premiered on Fox here, in May. So they have a ton of time to figure out what they want. IF ITV renews.

Miss Teen USA

Folding to social pressures of life, the Miss Teen USA contest will be replacing it's sauntering around mostly naked, I mean replacing their swimsuit portion of their beauty pageant with an "athletic wear competition."

Miss Universe president Paula Shugart shared in a memo, Miss Teen USA's shift is meant to "celebrate women’s strength, confidence and beauty" in different, more constructive ways.

"This decision reflects an important cultural shift we’re all celebrating that empowers women who lead active, purposeful lives and encourage those in their communities to do the same," she wrote.  Our hope is that this decision will help all of Miss Teen USA's fans recognize these young women for the strong, inspiring individuals they are."
