The New DOCTOR WHO & TARDIS Plus The Christmas Special Preview

The New DOCTOR WHO

In this piece, we're looking at the new Doctor Who, a bit about the TARDIS, and preview clips of both the new Doctor and the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special.

So as you know, we have the new (13th) Doctor Who will be played by Jodie Whittaker. (I wonder how long this one will last?) But she's not the only change that Doctor Who fans will have to do their best to accept. (I remember the uproar when Matt Smith was brought on board, and he turned out to be a pretty good Doctor!)

But the actor is not the only thing to change up.

The TARDIS is getting a makeover, both inside and out. But that may not be a big surprise since the TARDIS tends to regenerate when the good Doctor does. It's going to be darker on the outside. The St John’s Ambulance logo appears to have been removed and the door sign is now black. And there's a bunch of little, exterior cosmetic changes. Check out the windows, the door handles, and even the lamp on top. The interior has yet to be revealed.

Of course, the classic sonic screwdriver is getting remodeled, because, if they didn't, what would we be able to buy for the new doc? Right?

But one of the biggest changes taking place is that the episode run times are going up from 45 to 50 minutes, with the first one or two being 60, to take the time to introduce everyone. BUT... the 11th season will also be shorter, with 10 episodes and the usual Christmas Special.

And of course the stories in the upcoming season will be hitting up what they call 'interesting historical eras.'

The 13th Doctor's new companions will be Yasmin (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole), and Graham (Bradley Walsh).

And we will first spy our new Doctor in this year's closing moments of the 2017 Christmas Special, Twice Upon A Time, which will air on Christmas day.

The synopsis, if you want to read it, goes as follows:

Two Doctors stranded in a forbidding snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. And a British army captain seemingly destined to die in the First World War, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor’s story. This is the magical last chapter in the Twelfth Doctor’s epic adventure. He must face his past to decide his future. And the Doctor will realise the resilience of humanity, discovering hope in his darkest frozen moment. It’s the end of an era. But the Doctor’s journey is only just beginning.
