THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES (2012) Review

The Place Beyond the Pines review

The Place Beyond The Pines is a film that grabs your attention in the beginning with the drab existence of a man who rides motorcycles for a living... and then... by the end of act one, gets very interesting.

---

The Place Beyond the Pines stars Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, Bradley Cooper, Ray Liotta, Dane DeHaan and is a unique film in that it presents three stories in a linear fashion throughout.

Which means don't get hooked on any one character actor!!!

We follow Luke (Gossling) in his career as a motorcycle stunt rider, who makes a big score robbing a bank, which whets his appetite for more easy money...

But as you may know, easy money comes with a price.

As Gossling's act comes to a close, we start to follow Avery (Cooper) who we first met when he crossed paths with Luke. Avery is a police officer and as we follow his story arc, we find how convoluted of a situation a corrupt police department can be.

---

The story is a dark take on the lives of these characters and the troubles they end up going through. The Place Beyond the Pines is a dark and somber series of tales that will keep you glued to the film.
