ABC's First INHUMANS Series Trailer

Check it out, the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Inhumans series on ABC has been released...

Inhumans stars Sonya Balmores, Isabelle Cornish, Mike Moe, Anson Mount, Iwan Rheon, Serinda Swan, and more.  It's a bit funky and feels like an interesting money grab, but it will first premiere in IMAX theaters on September 1, and will air on ABC starting September 29, 2017.

It looks like CBS has finally announced the premiere date for their new Star Trek series, called Star Trek Discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on broadcast TV on Sunday, September 24 at 8:30 EST / 7:30 CST. The first episode will also available on demand on CBS's streaming site, CBS All Access.

If I'm not mistaken, the premiere episode will be the only one on TV while the rest of the series will air on their streaming service, with one episode a week being released. It's their tricky way to try to get people to sign up for their streaming service.

Discovery will take place 10 years prior to events where Captain Kirk scored on all those alien women, plus, and the entire season will focus on one story line, more or less, focusing on some historical moment in the Star Trek universe that has only ever been mentioned but never shown.

The cast will include Sonequa Martin-Green's First Officer Michael Burnham, and also features Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones. James Frain will be playing Sarek (Yes, Spocks father) and Rainn Wilson will be playing Harry Mudd.

As you can see, CBS is trying to bait fans into paying for their online streaming service. And I'm a stingy bitch about my wallet, so I'll wait until it comes out on some other venue I'm already paying for. I mean seriously, we pay for cable, we pay for pay cable channels, we pay for things like Netflix and Prime. Others pay for Hulu, so if you think about it, well, pick and choose my friends. Pick and choose!

Godzilla stuff on Amazon.

According to a few sources, production for Legendary Pictures Godzilla sequel has started up. It's being directed by Michael Dougherty (Who? No, really, I've never heard of the guy) and stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins, both reprising their first  Godzilla roles, while other cast members will include Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and  Zhang Ziyi.

By now, we're used to three things when it comes to a Transformers film.  Wait... four things.

1: It will be Michael Bay's last TF film.
2: The story will be adequate, but there will be haters.
3: Lots of eye-bending carnage. In fact, almost too much carnage that goes on and on.
4: Critics will trash on it.

And judging from the critics out there, this is the worst Transformers movie to date!

(Quickie update: The critics aren't wrong when they say it's a jumble of a story but it is your standard TF film, and isn't quite as bad as they make it out to be... IF you're a franchise fan, you'll be fine. I was fine with the bucks I spent seeing it. A more in-depth review to follow.)

Normally I don't believe critics because they're geared towards the more serious, non-popcorn kind of films in their realm of movie reviewing. Fine, I get that. But then I turned to critics that I've come to trust over the years and even they are trashing on Transformers: The Last Knight.

Here's a few quotes:

So much incoherent noise that you'll want to bang your head on the seat in front of you just to get some rest.

It's hard to imagine anyone reading, let alone writing, the script and believing that it made any sort of sense at all.

True fans probably don't need the tangled universe of good versus evil explained to them: Bionic aliens rumble; ancient monuments crumble; guys in the middle of robot Armageddon deliver wry one-liners. That's just what you do when things go boom.

The newest alien robot film is sitting at 16% on the Rotten Tomatoes scale, when I last looked.

TV News - SENSE8, JAY LENO, SYTYCD And More 061817

Andi Mack was renewed for a second season by the Disney Channel.

The History Channel has ordered an interesting series that will be UFO-themed called Blue Book. It will be a 10-episode series and will focus on the UFO investigations by the secret Blue Book organization in the 50's and 60's. Now I have to wonder how sensationalized they'll make it, kind of like how Animal Planet and Spike and others have made Bigfoot out to be some kind of demon animal killer!

-Flip or Flop Vegas was renewed for a second season by HGTV.

-Jay Leno’s Garage will premiere on CNBC on Wednesday, June 28th.

-Vanessa Hudgens is joining Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance, adding to the already installed team of Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy. Man, that judging box goes through people, don't they?

-Quarry was cancelled by Cinemax.

-Sense8 was cancelled by Netflix...  and to be honest, I'm not surprised. It was an interesting but confounding story.  If t1hey had minimized the number of people swapping brains, it might have gone better. To be honest, every show that I've seen where people swap minds, seems to always flounder in the ratings. And in most cases, the shows have too many characters swapping out. There is one particular show that comes to mind called My Own Worst Enemy, starring Christian Slater. It was a brilliant concept about a spy agency that used brain chips to activate the personality of the homebody or the killer assassin. But Slater's chip started malfunctioning and the other/wrong personality would show up at the wrong times. But then the two personalities became aware of each other and started leaving each other video messages, creating a rivalry, while the 'spy' would leave messages about what he did with their wife last night, and the accountant, helpless to stop things like that and getting jealous. But then there were moments in the battlefield the accountant would pop up... IT was an awesome show, but the problem was they had an entire agency wired like this and as they spent time on the field or at home, it became confusing who was playing what. Otherwise, I think it would have worked for more than the one season that it did.

-The Get Down was cancelled by Netflix.

-Underground was cancelled by WGN.

How Marvel's Evil Hydra Captain America Has Deterred Me From The Character

Along comes the Marvel Cinematic Universe a few years ago and suddenly the character who I didn't care about in print, came to life for me on film, that being Steve Rogers/Captain America. As a young comic reader, I only enjoyed the Cap/Falcon team up series but never followed Rogers beyond that series. I could not tell you why. Probably because I was on a budget and getting wise to the ways of cross-overs and getting baited to spend more money outside my budget. But either way, I never caught on to Captain America.

But the Marvel movies portrayed a man, a leader and someone with a solid sense or conviction in such a way that they had me starting to rethink my adverseness to the character.

But just as I was thinking about checking it out, a new story line popped up in the comics a few months ago... and that of where Steve Rogers had been a Hydra agent all along, and in proving it, Marvel showed us his shocking, murderous ways.

I was shocked, as I'm sure that's the reaction Marvel was looking for, and I was so totally disappointed that this most robust, honest character, through all these years, just betrayed my trust. And so doing, so did Marvel. But I waited for a bit. Maybe it was a quirky twist of a story. But as time and a few months passed, it seems that it was not a quirky, temporary twist.

And it's a twist that violated my faith in Steve Rogers.

SENSE8 To Stay Cancelled, BLACK PANTHER First Teaser Trailer

Marvel's Black Panther first teaser trailer came out and it's a great mix of something that feels new from Marvel, a film about a 'third world' country that's hiding its true identity. Interesting premise.

Add that to the allure that Chadwick Boseman brought to the character in the last Captain America film, was quite inviting. The Black Panther cast, besides Boseman, includes

Michael B. Jordan,
Lupita Nyong'o,
Danai Gurira,
Martin Freeman,
Daniel Kaluuya,
Angela Bassett,
Forest Whitaker &
Andy Serkis.

Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) directs off a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole (American Crime Story, upcoming Inhumans TV series.).

The first trailer for Marvel's Black Panther:

{ }

In case you had not heard the news, Netflix cancelled Sense8. And to be honest, I'm not clear I was surprised. They had an ambitious story to tell, but the mind swapping of characters may have been taking its toll on viewers.

24 LEGACY Cancelled, SNOWPIERCER Casting

Fox has cancelled the hyper-action, super-spy drama, 24: Legacy. Is this a surprise? I'm thinking not really. I tuned in for two or three episodes, but found myself asking questions about stupid events that would help further the action-packed drama. Though I did not stick around long enough to see if they had the same super-powered cell phone batteries that let them keep talking for hours on end!

But let's look at the basics:

Hyper crazy, non-stop activity...  can get fairly boring. It's the lull in the story that makes the action moments seem exciting. But non-stop excitement becomes hum-drum.

Sure, there are new characters, but all doing the same stuff. The very same stuff that got the first rendition of the series cancelled.

But Fox says that even though they're cancelling the show, they're looking into the idea of exploring an anthology series built around the real-time format of the original 24 series, while changing out characters each season.

Or are they hoping that we enjoy the lip service and they're done done?

Snowpiercer - Did you hear that Jennifer Connolly has landed a role in the TNT series based on the same story as the movie that starred Chris Evans?

So, it was a decent movie, at least decent enough to watch it all the way through, but to base a series off the story of the earth becoming a frozen wasteland, with a train moving on tracks that encircle the world, non-stop, seems like another attempt at telling the story of a small chunk of society in a microcosm.

I mean, it worked for Battlestar Galactica on Syfy, until they really threw the baby out with the bathwater with that dumbass series finale. I mean those last two episodes stopped me in my tracks from buying the DVD/BD of the entire series, it was that bad. But still...

TV News for 6-7-17

Even though ABC renewed Agents of SHIELD and Qauntico, I don't know how much longer they'll be around. I am only wondering this because both of these shows, when they do return next season, will be showing up during mid-season, and at a reduced episode order. Or are they prepping for the Inhumans series and don't have quite the ratings to feel confident at keeping both shows going?

And then there's this thing where they moved Shark Tank from it's mainstay time slot of Friday nights, over to Sunday nights, where it will be facing off against Sunday Night Football on NBC. Either it's a huge risk or they are trying to kill off Shark Tank with the excuse of crap ratings. We'll see how that goes.

ABC is also getting in on the firefighter show by ordering a Grey's Anatomy spin-off that will focus on firefighters risking their lives in and around the Seattle area.

Jimmy Kimmel is returning as the host of The Oscars!

Is anyone having any anticipation for CBS's new dramas coming up next season, SEAL Team, or... SWAT? Yep, another reboot show.

Speaking of new shows, next season will be bringing us 19 new shows on the basic nets...

CBS : 3 dramas, 3 comedies
ABC : 4 dramas, 1 comedies
NBC : 2 dramas, 1 comedy
Fox : 1 comedies, 1 drama, 1 dramedy
CW  : 2 dramas

And these numbers do not reflect what's coming at the midseason point!

Netflix is doing a prequel to the 1982 film, The Dark Crystal, called Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

Proposed ALIEN 5 Film by Blomkamp Is Dead

Over the last few years, we've been hearing how Neill Blomkamp had drafted up ideas for an Alien movie sequel, known as Alien 5. This entire hope for a real decent sequel started hitting the internet as early as January of 2015.

As the news of Blomkamp's idea started hitting the internet, we learned how Ripley, Newt and Hicks were in it, and this would have totally completed Ripley's story. We heard how the actors that could have been involved, Sigourney Weaver, Michael Beihn were all somehow confused or tricked, as they showed support for the premise or were actually thinking the film was on schedule to be filmed.

Then there was news that Alien 5 was put on hold for Alien Covenant.  Then Weaver had shared the idea that this fifth film was actually a direct sequel to James Cameron's Aliens film.

But, through whispered rumors and solid interviews of late, it's been reported that Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 project is no longer kicking, but dead. Apparently Ridley Scott is more focused on his dilluted prequels than supporting a solid new sequel.

Blomkamp has a decent track record for telling great, tragic and depressing stories while Scott seems to be milking the francise as Xenopmorph fans keep flocking to the theater. But with Scott's prequels, with supposedly three in mind, after what people are seeing with Covenant, we don't think it can be jut three films that tell the tale, but more. Which falls in place with the "miling the franchise" theory.

WONDER WOMAN, DC's Best Super Hero Film Ever

WONDER WOMAN Quickie Movie Review
My longer review of Wonder Woman sits over on our parent site,, but in a nutshell, it was an emotionally gripping and at times, powerful film. Even for a comic book film from the DCEU. And that's saying something, considering I've never been a Wonder Woman fan. Until now.

To he totally honest, I've never cared about or for the character of Wonder Woman. The comic never caught my attention and the aside from her appearance in BvS, my only other exposure to the character was in my scarred memories of what is now considerd to be that most horrid TV sereis.

But back on track, Wonder Woman showed so much more than the character.

It showed how "man" ran the world of people back then, there was wonderful chemistry between Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman) and Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) was seamless, what humor there was, flowed smoothly within each moment, and the tale of Diana Prince, her coming of age, of learning the ways of how the world outside her guilded island really ran, was a treasure and frustration point to watch.

And the one moment when she "comes out," and reveals to the world what Diana Prince can do on the battlefield, is one of those character moments or scenes, that truly captured the viewers imagination.

And during the film, not once was the movie title itself used to describe Diana. I thought that was about as sublime as it can get, because to be honest, it would have been too easy to do.

If you may or may not remember, I got kicked out of Pokemon Go a few months back after attaining 30th level. They had updated the app and rearranged buttons so one day not long after that, I had a connection issue, and instead of hitting the continue button while the app was having issues, I hit the new location of the log off button.

Oops, but then I could not get back on.

I valiantly tried many different ways, including reaching out to support, but they said I had no account.  Hmm, all that time burning 1% of my battery juice per minute, chasing shit down, going out of my way to nab creatures that were going to run away any way, and having burned countless hours and it seems I had no account to get to 30th level?

They suggested I had connected my Google account to the game, but to be honest, if that were the case, it would have been the very first time ever, that I would have connected any account to any online service/game/app. It's just something I have never done. Ever.

So there I was, left out in the cold, and I started having time to reflect, how back then, the app/game was making nearly a million bucks a day. And how I now have a ton of free time to be a productive human in society once again, instead of chasing an obsessive compulsion!

And suddenly, the progression of the game and how it manipulated people became pretty apparent, once I wasn't knee deep in it.
