Best Fan Made Trailers, Including A Minimalist 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Vid

A buddy of mine, author Peter Cawdron, sent me a link to a hoot of a fan-made video for the new, upcoming J.J. Abrams movie, Star Trek Into Darkness.

Now usually, when you hear the term, "fan-made," you first imagine some highly skilled technician who pulls together amazing skills to make something that parrellels or sometimes exceed what the studios put out.

There's a great live-action Thundercats video out there that's just amazing and whets the appetite for a real movie, rather than the cartoon we now have.  (No complaints about the animated series, it's just not live-action!)

Then there was the fan-made remix of different movie trailers for John Carter that totally convinced me to go see the movie.  Where as, the studio released teasers did so very little to generate enthusiasm.  It was amazing.

And one of my all time favorites, is an online peer of mine who not only introduced me to a totally cool song and music group, but has an incredible eye for editing, as he made an incredible Stargate homeage video.

But now, we have come at the fan-made trailer from a completely different angle.  My first impulse, as I told Peter, was...

"That's a hoot!  It's so, I want to say stupid, yet it's so basic and dare I say almost brilliant and bold.  Thanks for that..."

I'm refining my response to calling this a minimalist trailer, much like those posters that make their rounds on the web...  It's minimalist, yet brilliantly bold.

I'll call this

'The Dead Files' Premieres on March 8th

If you're a fan of  The Dead Files, you might want to mark your calendar for Friday, March 8th, at 10 P.M. ET/PT.  (Or at least queue up your DVR!) That's when the fourth season of this popular series on The Travel Channel premieres.

And yes, detective Steve DiSchiavi and medium Amy Allan are back at it, just like last season.

This fourth season premiere will take place in Egg Harbor City, NJ, where one couple's home seems to be the incarnation of the Amityville Horror house.

Check out the press release:

From the Jersey Shore to Death Valley, the Appalachians to the Great Lakes, Travel Channel's captivating series "The Dead Files" returns for a new season of unforgettable paranormal investigations. The extraordinary duo – retired homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi and medium Amy Allan – team up once again to investigate claims of frightening, unexplained activity in haunted locations across America to help quell fears and restore peace to their clients. Season four, with thirteen hour-long episodes, premieres Friday, March 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT and features some of the most terrifying, disturbing and high-stakes cases yet.

In each episode, Allan and DiSchiavi travel to a different U.S. town, where they explore each case separately. As a no-nonsense detective, Steve DiSchiavi investigates the facts behind every situation, meeting with witnesses and local experts to piece together the real story. Medium Amy Allan channels the dead to understand what spirit activity lies within the haunted building at hand. In order to preserve the integrity of their discoveries, each investigator's methods and findings are kept hidden from the other until the very end. Only then do they finally come together to reveal the results to the homeowners – ultimately formulating into one shocking and undeniable conclusion.

"'The Dead Files' is an engrossing program that is incredibly popular with our viewers," said Andy Singer, GM, Travel Channel. "As the audience journeys with Steve and Amy, each location provides a fascinating glimpse at haunted America and the opportunity to experience the country from a whole new perspective."

Season four begins in Egg Harbor City, NJ where one couple's home has turned from a cozy fixer-upper into a living hell. Despite making renovations, "dark feelings" intensified and manifested into unexplained voices, shadow figures and an overwhelming sense of being watched – frightening both the couple and their five-year-old son. As the team attempts to help the family, DiSchiavi discovers the house was previously the site of a suicide and next to a former sanatorium that saw its share of death. When Allan makes contact with the spirits, she discovers something far more dark and frightening.

Additional locations this season include a house in Browns Summit, NC where haunted activity is adversely affecting one family's health; a childhood home in Wabash, IN that has taken on paranormal activity since it was rebuilt after a mysterious fire; the former home to a murderous mobster in Rock Island, IL that's ridden with unexplained shadows and noises; a Watervleit, MI home overcome with aggressive activity that terrorizes its inhabitants; a 19th century mansion in Buchanan, VA with dark secrets; and two haunted hotels – the Occidental Hotel in Buffalo, WY and The Amargosa Hotel & Opera House in Death Valley, CA, both of which are rapidly losing business due to terrified guests.

"The Dead Files" is produced by Painless Entertainment, Inc. for the Travel Channel. For Painless, the executive producer is Jim Casey and the co-executive producers are Ross Kaiman and Rob Rosen.  The executive producer for the Travel Channel is David E. Gerber.

New Movies At The Box Office This Friday, February 1st, 2013 [Bodies, Bullet...]

So what's up Doc?  Or more precisely, what new movies are playing at your local movie theater this Friday, Feb 1st?  Cutting right to the chase, here's what's new in movie theaters this week:

(I provide [IMDb user ratings], where applicable, to help out with the decision process in case you're on the bubble about a movie or even going to the theater.) First up is

Stand Up Guys

'Stand Up Guys' movie promo poster
Starring  Al Pacino & Christopher Walken, with Alan Arkin, Julianna Margulies in the cast.  The movie is about...

"A pair of aging con men try to get the old gang back together for one last hurrah before one of the guys takes his last assignment -- to kill the other one."

Dude, harsh!

Almost 3k IMDb users have seen the movie and given it a 6.6/10.  That seems at least promising.

Warm Bodies

'Warm Bodies' promo poster

Starring Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer, and keep your eyes peeled for Dave Franco and John Malkovich, in a movie about

"After R (Hoult) (a highly unusual zombie) saves Julie (Palmer) from an attack, the two form a relationship that sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world."

The previews look cute/funny and I'm torn between this and bullet.  Jonathan Levine (50/50, The Wackness) directed.

No IMDb score.

Bullet to the Head

'Bullet to the Head' movie promo art

Starring Sylvester Stallone, with Jason Momoa, Christian Slater, Sung Kang and Sarah Shahi, this movie...

"After watching their respective partners die, a New Orleans hitman and a Washington D.C. detective form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy."

Directed by Walter Hill (Prometheus, Alien franchise).

On IMDb, the movie has a good score of 6.9/10 by users.

The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia

Tom Welling Cast in Next Acting Gig Since 'Smallville' (It's About Time!)

Tom Welling gets cast in a Tom Hanks movie

Wow, it's been a while, but Tom Welling is finally getting back into the mold of actor!  Since Smallville, he executive produced the moderately successful CW series, Hellcats, but since then, he's been quiet on the job front.

Deadline is reporting exclusively that that Tom Welling has landed a role in the movie Parkland.  He's joining other cast members of Paul Giamatti, Zac Efron, Jacki Weaver, Jackie Earle Haley, Marcia Gay Harden, Colin Hanks and others.  (Jeremy Strong will play Lee Harvey Oswald)

Parkland focuses on the hours that take place after the assassination of JFK, and his subsequent passing at Parkland Hospital. (Synopsis: A recounting of the chaotic events that occurred at Dallas' Parkland Hospital on the day U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.)  It's being directed by Peter Landesman.  I'd like to be able to tell you about his resume that leads up to this gig, but this seems to be his directorial debut.  He did write and exec produce the 2007 project, Trade.

Parkland is being produced by some heavy hitters in the industry, or at least fan favorites, like Tom Hanks, & Bill Paxton.

It's been a long time since we've seen Tom Welling in anything and it will be good to see him in something other than a fantasy or horror role to boot.  Keep your eyes peeled.

At this time there's no news on his role, or an exact release date for Parkland,

'Iron Man 3' Super Bowl Teaser Promo Art...

Iron Man 3 Super Bowl promo tease photo

Ah, as we all know, there will be some Iron Man 3 action during the Super Bowl with 2 teaser clips.  Supposedly new clips.  On the humorous side, EW was showing a preview clip of the preview clip of the teaser coming out on Sunday.  New images or image angles, but it looked pretty close to the same stuff, different angles that we've seen before.

The above image is the latest promo art for Iron Man 3, coming to theaters on May 3rd, 2013.  But I'm not worried.  Really, I'm not.

if you remember the first movie trailer, Tony (Robert Downey Jr.) is waking up in the snowy field in his trashed suit of armor... and I'm guessing the above movie poster is just him, before the landing.

So I'm not too worried at all.  (I think)

Besides, this time around, he has to catch himself.  There's no Hulk to keep him from going splat!

Here's the teaser for the Super Bowl teaser...

Here's the first Iron Man 3 movie trailer:

'The Hunger Games Catching Fire' Set Captured on Google Maps!

Word on the street is that the set for the newest Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire, has been discovered on Google Maps.  With Cornucopia and all.

In this second chapter of the three book, four (?*) movie Hunger Games franchise, contestants are forced into a new arena that takes place around a lake.

And the pic below, seems to reflect that very location.

I'd rather not say much more about the next film, just in case you have not read the books, but it sucks (for the characters) in what takes place, and they're forced into new and difficult situations, both physical and politically.

To see this on the map for yourself, just go to Google and put in "clayton county, the beach park" and you'll be able to check it out.  The street view angle doesn't provide much, and besides, the satellite and street view images are not coordinated in a timely fashion.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out in theaters in November.

?*:  I'd ask how the heck one gets four movies out of three books, but then again, when Peter Jackson figured out how the bloody h*! to squeeze three hours out of a single Hobbit book, well, I stopped pondering!

'Iron Man 3' Cameos & Spoiler Toys... Or Are They?

Iron Man 3 Movie News

There's a lot of hoopla and speculation going on about cameos in the upcoming Iron Man 3 movie.  Plus other script/story details that might be getting out of the bag because of some new toys coming out.

But are all these hints really hints, or is the web, as it is sometimes seen doing, just getting out of hand?

If these are anywhere near close to right, then these be MOVIE SPOILERS about to commence.  If not, then never mind.  But we won't know until Iron Man 3 hits theaters on May 3rd, 2013.

Proceed at your own risk dear reader!

Avengers Cameos in Iron Man 3
It seems that the latest speculations are coming from a 5-part interview with Robert Downey Jr. from EW..  Mind you, we have only seen two parts of this interview so far.

In the bit, there's chatter about if we'll be seeing The Avengers or not in the movie.  Downey says " - everywhere you look now in every Marvel movie there are opportunities where certain new pals of his could be useful. So they're in the atmosphere, so to speak, but I wouldn't expect to see them on the ground in this one."

And suddenly there's a stipulation that we might see fly-by's or something like that.  And all kinds of conjecture.  But if you've seen the first movie trailer, there's suggestions at events from The Avengers there...

When I first saw this quote, I thought the reference "on the ground" just meant "in the movie" or the ground of the project takes place in.  A reference, a cutesy reference, at best.

It's like when Joss Whedon gets coy about things and starts dropping mis-directs in his statements.  ...  Or does he?   (See?)  [EW]

Guardians in IM3?

Then on Latino Review there's talk of a toy that's come out that marketed under the Iron Man 3 title, that's called the "Deep Space Suit."  And further conjecture is saying that "inside sources" (that can't keep their mouths shut) indicate that Stark, in his space suit, will be making contact with the Guardians of the Galaxy.  Possibly in an end-credit scene.

And we're also seeing that Iron Man is guesting in the Guardians of the Galaxy comic issue, which is helping the rumor news along.

So there's the conjectures as we're seeing them today.

Now whether the toy is a herald of information or not remains to be seen.  How many times have you seen "fantasy" mode toys for franchises?

When Iron Man 2 toys came out, Shellhead had flame throwers, motorcycles and what not.  None of which were in any movie.  This could be one of those.  (Coy statement: Or not.)

And some folks question how it is that toy manufacturers keep "spoiling" movies with early product announcements or releases related to movies.

I call it marketing

These early announcements look like perfect marketing that creates soundbites that websites report on.  (Hmm...  Wait... That means I'm...  Never mind!)

If for one moment, you can imagine a multi-billion dollar franchise owner is going to allow the rights to a character be given to a toy company without specific restrictions, like say, no publicity before 'x' date, well, you're probably right.  But that 'x' date could be a few months before the movie premieres in movie theaters.

Then again, last year there were toys out that had people hopping through hoops trying to figure out who the aliens were in The Avengers.  But it was marketing, and it was fun.  Conjecture games are always fun.

That's all I got for ya at the moment on Iron Man 3 movie news.  Later gang!

'Price is Right' and 'Let's Make a Deal' Are Both Renewed, Along With...

In recent weeks, I've had a few emails from folks wondering if The Price is Right with host Drew Carey and/or Let's Make a Deal, hosted by Wayne Brady, have been renewed or not.

It turns out that both shows have been renewed by CBS.

In fact, CBS has renewed their complete daytime line-up of shows, which not only include The Price Is Right and Let's Make a Deal, but also the soap The Bold and the Beautiful, (which has been around for 26 years), The Young and the Restless (looking at 40 years in production), and The Talk.

Price is Right has been around since 1956 and Let's Make a Deal started entertaining daytime viewers ack in 1963.

Why Are The 'Super Bowl' Ads Costly Hot TV Commodities?

Super Bowl TV ads

Super Bowl TV Ads

We get the previews online before the game, we see them during the game, and we'll be talking about them after the game.  These ads have developed a life of their own over the years.  But Super Bowl TV commercials are crazy expensive.  But as marketers would see it, it's an investment and they wouldn't pay the monies they do if that investment didn't pay off.

This year, the average cost for THIRTY SECONDS of TV ad time is booking around $3.8M.  (M for million.)  And that does not count what it cost to make the ads.

And that ad-time average is weighted against how the first half of the game is more prime property versus the 2nd half.  So watch the first half for some of the best ads?  Maybe.  But more than likely, it's just advertisers with much DEEPER pockets.

But some folk don't partake.  You won't see General Motors ads because they don't think it merits the cost.  But Audi, Chrysler, Fiat, Hyundai, Kia, Lincoln, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen don't agree with GM.

As I noted in a previous post, movie studios will be advertising during the Super Bowl Those being Disney, Marvel Studios, Paramount and Universal.  And if $7m a minute seems pricey for a movie ad, consider this:  Movies see larger returns for their Super Bowl ads, where numbers suggest that those who advert during the game see double the opening weekend monies for their efforts.

And with the Super Bowl, because of the past and how these ads have been a focus for the game, almost as much as the game, tune-out rates for ads is super low, with only a 0.7% "tuneaway" versus up to 4% for other ad times.  Though I can't imagine that counts for folks who "walk away" or mute their TVs.  I've gotten into the habit of muting because other then CBS, most networks lock out their On Demand FFing options.

Also, this year, some ads will have options where you vote online to tell the folks who play the ads, how the ad should end.  (Coca-Cola and Audi.)

Of course, after the game, we will be sharing the "cute" and "funny" ads online.  We entertain ourselves and our friends.  But the advertisers will also be winning from what they call the long-tail exposure, and the advertiser will see a long living ad platform in this venue.

Over half the ads get exposure for more than a month after the game.  Hell, I just popped up the VW Mini-Vader ad in a post from last year... or was that the year before?

Eh, it's cute.  Who cares, right?  VW cares!

So this is what it's coming down to. Will the game play out and be notable, or will the ads generate more media chat?  (That would not be a good thing for the game itself, but hell, whose counting?)

'Star Wars' Has The World's Imagination, From VW TV Ads to Flash Mobs!

'Star Wars' Flash Mobs and TV ads

Star Wars has been in our culture from the day it first premiered in the movie theater. It captured our imagination and it only got bigger with each sequel.  Luke, (spoilers:::) his father, his sister and god know what other family members were floating around out there.

For years Star Wars fans and enthusiasts have supported the franchise with a heart-felt belief in it.  Then the prequels came along.  Some liked them, some no so much.  Me, I wasn't going to bite a gift-horse in the ass and accepted this is what we got.

But now, I think I've seen it all.  Below I'm including a fascinating range of videos.  Just two of them, but they're both cool.

One is the cute Super Bowl Mini Darth Vader Ad... Mini Vader keeps trying his hand at using the famous power called 'The Force,' but to no avail.  Or was it?

The other one is a very cool Star Wars flash mob video that just gives me the chills, because it was so subtle and so cool, all at once.  It starts out with just two men, and then there's folks in a balcony.  And as it continues, the band grows as they come out of the woodwork to stun the crowd there.  Just awesome!

Upcoming Movie Trailers During the '2013 Super Bowl'

'Iron Man 3' 2013 Super Bowl movie trailers

Ah, the 2013 Super Bowl.  The time when the ads used to be incredible and you would wait with bated breath for each new commercial.  Of late, the commercials have been cute, but not really incredible.  I think the biggest one over the last few years was the Volkswagen Mini-Vader ad.  That was just cute beyond cute.  (See below)

But amongst the ads are the much coveted brain-candy of movie trailers that will premiere during the big game.

So let's take a peek at what's coming up during the game... where 47 commercials will air, costing millions per minute, because they know you'll be watching!

Star Trek Into Darkness marketing team has the movie trailer tied into their app.  This trailer will air during the 2nd quarter.

Fast and the Furious Six with Vin Diesel will have an ad.

Iron Man 3 starring Robert Downey Jr., will have a thirty-second spot and a sixty-second trailer.

Oblivion with Tom Cruise will air.

The Lone Ranger will deliver a ninety-second movie trailer during the first quarter.

Oz, The Great and Powerful will also air.

And now, the cutest TV ad ever (Or close to it) for the Super Bowl VW Darth Vader Ad, titled "The Force: Volkswagen Commercial":

'Star Wars' 3D Re-Releases Put On Hold

Today Lucasfilm has issued a press release stating that they've put on hold the planned re-release of the Star Wars Episodes II and III in 3D.  (There is a god!)

They quote the recent developments with Disney purchasing the company and moving forward with a brand-new Star Wars trilogy as the reason they have put conversion plans on hold, wanting to stay totally focused on the newest, upcoming project, Star Wars: Episode VII, being directed by J.J. Abrams.  And the subsequent next two films.

Any future 3D conversion plans, as they occur, will be announced by the company they said.

Which is great that they're not spreading resources too thin, but I have to wonder how far along they were in the conversion process?

Eh...  we'll see how things go.  I'm sure some day, it will happen.  3D is all the rage and great for the movie distributor's bottom line.

Promos For 'The Walking Dead' Season 3 Mid-Season Return

Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon in THE WALKING DEAD

Things were getting pretty hot leading up to the mid-season break of The Walking Dead.  The Governor's child, now truly dead, his finding out about the prison, and now the brothers being forced to face off in that ring that the Governor has set up as "entertainment," none of it looks good.

But then again, when has it?  Season 3 returns on February 10th, on AMC.  (Don't forget, the latest showrunner has left the series.)

Thoughts on Marvel's 'The Avengers' Phases, DC's 'Justice League' Movie and More

Chris Hemsworth will be playing THOR in 'THE AVENGERS 2'

The Avengers, Marvel and...

Being a comic genre movie fan, one of the bigger film franchises I look forward to is Marvel's movie projects.  For me, The Avengers culminated a wonderful collective of movies that preceded it, including the first two Iron Man movies.

Now that we've been fully entertained by The Avengers, and that newbie Joss Whedon fans got a taste of how he handles character ensembles, we're pretty much waiting for more Avengers, as in The Avengers 2, which is slated for a May 2015 release.

But between now and then, we're due for a few more single title movies.  Because The Avengers 2 is part of Marvel's Phase plans, right after that, Phase 3 will follow with such movies as the over-hyped Ant-Man movie from Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim), and more than likely, a Doctor Strange movie.

But we're in Phase 2 of the process of movies from Marvel, and that will include Iron Man 3 (May 3,2013), Thor: The Dark World (Nov 8, 2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Apr, 2014) and the Guardians of the Galaxy (Aug 2014).

If past track records have anything to say about upcoming projects, keep an eye on characters from these Phase Two movies to see what characters may show up in the second Avengers movie.  We did get Loki from Thor in The Avengers.  Rumors say that The Falcon from Captain America 2 will b in The Avengers 2.  And who knows who else might be there. I'm fully expecting the Guardians to be there.

But if anything, we know from the end-cap scene of The Avengers, that despite the obvious set of villains, we know that Thanos was behind that move to attack Earth.  Having the post-credits scene from The Avengers explained, you know that Thanos was overseeing all the action.

Now, with Joss Whedon hired by Disney/Marvel to oversee the Marvel workshop of titles across the board, will he throw Thanos in the mix this time around, or will Whedon be directing something or someone else into The Avengers sequel?

I know we all have a lot of questions about the upcoming Marvel ensemble movie, but in time, it will all become clear, whether it be by some slight of hand marketing, an untrustworthy movie grip or just plain, outright... wait, Whedon's never outright with info in the early stages of any project he's doing.  Strike that third idea.

So we wait.

But I have one teeny, tiny little question in the back of my mind.

Justice League

Henry Cavill is Clark Kent/Superman in 'MAN OF STEEL'

You see, DC is putting together their Justice League movie.  Because Marvel got the jump on them with a wildly successful process, DC has decided to release their ensemble movie first, then deliver some stand-alone projects after the fact.  (Though there's no word if Man of Steel will feed into the JL project, though many suspect there will be.  Heck, I am suspect that we'll see reference to Superman hauling butt off to Gotham city to save a certain someone from dying while saving his city from an A-bomb!)

Oh, back to the question:  I have to wonder whose getting skull-slapped, "Gibbs style," for not taking Joss Whedon up on his Wonder Woman spec script he offered up a several years back?  I mean, they had first shot at the man and let it slide.

Back then, the only real support Whedon had were his long-time fans from Firefly, Buffy, Angel and Dr. Horrible days.  And that was a small demographic.  Too small to put bank on, at least from DC/Warner Bros's perspective.

When he got hired on to helm The Avengers, the nay-sayers were pretty numerous in those early days.  A billion dollars later from the box-office, I haven't heard too much about the nay-sayers, and DC is trying to court Christopher Nolan and other serious-minded, successful director/producers to lead the Justice League into a similar success pattern.

Hey, I bet J.J. Abrams might be... never mind.  He's probably busy with those two other mega-blockbuster movie franchises.

So yea guys, Warner Bros. missed the boat with Whedon and snagging him up, as Marvel did with their overall creative oversight contract.

As it stands, it seems like the JL movie will have Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and the Flash characters, and they'll be facing off against Darkseid.  Additional side characters the could make the roll-call involve Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Hawkman.  (And with Warner Bros. winning the legal battle to retain all the Superman Character Rights, at least things are starting to look up for them.)

And hopeful rumors are flitting around that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, after finding the bat cave in The Dark Knight Rises, will be that Batman.  (Seeing as how C. Nolan ended his trilogy, making a WB reboot a bit of a challenge.)

But the story and Batman notes are pure internet  conjecture/rumor for the moment.

SERIES PREMIERES -------------------------------------------

Premiering Tuesday, February 26 at 10:00PM & 10:30PM (Two Back-to-Back Episodes)

Only a handful of people can train with elite Army Rangers, scale trees with lumberjacks in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains and dive off cliffs in Hawaii.  Even fewer can do these things without legs.  But that’s never stopped Kevin Michael Connolly – an author, photographer and self-proclaimed thrill seeker that was born without legs.  Travel Channel’s new original series “Armed & Ready” follows Connolly as he creates new rigs to travel anywhere, conquer anything and push the limits of the world around him.  With his impressive arm strength, his skateboard, the help of backyard engineers and real scientists – and without a wheelchair or prosthetics – Connolly tackles adventure after adventure.

Tuesday, February 26   10:00PM   “Legless Lumberjack – Smoky Mountains, Tennessee”

Kevin Michael Connolly is in the Great Smoky Mountains. Not only does he strive to climb a 50-foot tree with lumberjacks, but he’s out to conquer Tennessean activities and sports including zorbing (rolling down a hill in a giant inflatable hamster ball), traversing the daunting Class 4 rapids of the Pigeon Forge River – solo – on a custom cataraft, and tossing razor sharp axes at a target that is 30-feet away.

Tuesday, February 26   10:30PM   “Death Defying Cliff Dive – Big Island, Hawaii”

Kevin Michael Connolly travels to the Big Island on a mission to attempt an epic 40-foot cliff dive – head first – into the Pacific Ocean. Although he trains with a world-champion cliff diver, he still needs to set aside his fear and actually make the leap himself…using only his arms. Along the way, he skateboards on hardened lava, hits the beach for some surfing, zip-lines 300 feet above the jungle to explore breathtaking waterfalls and shreds the ATV trails on Hawaii’s tallest mountain, Mauna Kea, with his one-of-a-kind motorized mountain board.

SEASON PREMIERES --------------------------------------------------

From Salvadoran favorites, to food trucks that feed hordes of hungry federal workers, to taking a trip back into history to taste what our forefathers ate, the district is a melting pot of flavors, both old and new. So whether it's deep fried Rocky Mountain oysters in a biker bar, pheasant cooked over an open flame, or ant larvae beignets in a fine restaurant, Denver is a goldmine of flavors from both yesterday and today!

Monday, February 25   9:00PM   “Iowa”

Andrew Zimmern finds there's a lot more than meat and potatoes on the table in Iowa! The cuisine in this Midwestern state is full of surprises, thanks to a combination of food pioneers and traditionalists trying to preserve the old ways. The menu ranges from heritage pork brains with spring onion kimchi to a stew made with a whole sheep's head.

Their frightened client, Diane, says that she’s seeing strange things, she’s been scratched, and that an entity told her she has only two years to live. Diane is desperate to stop the activity and believes that she and her disabled son’s lives are in danger.  In their separate, spellbinding investigations, DiSchiavi uncovers evidence of a deadly land dispute and hundreds of dead bodies buried on the property, while Allan encounters an eerie entity that crawls into bed with the living to torment them in their sleep.  Finally, the team unites to reveal their shocking findings in an effort to help this terrified family.
