News for True Blood, Game of Thrones, Arrow-like Shows, and The Walking Dead

David Morrisey as The Governor in "The Walking Dead"

With Game of Thrones starting up this Sunday, it has people wondering when another popular HBO series... True Blood is starting up.

HBO has now announced that date...

The sixth season of True Blood will be premiering on June 16th.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, I caught a piece over on Entertainment Weekly saying we won't see so much of Peter Dinklage in this upcoming third season of GoT.

Dinklage plays one of my favorite characters from the series, Tyrion.  He almost makes the show for me.  But news is that with so many story lines that were shoved in our faces last season, has seemed to make it necessary to cut back on other story lines.  Tyrioin is one of them.

According to Dinklage, he's had fewer days of shooting.

Over on, they put up a piece that suggested a list of ten superheroes that deserve what they call the "Arrow treatment" on TV.

Sara Canning & Niall Matter Coming To Syfy in Primeval: New World; Continuum (Rachel Nichols) Gets Renewed

The wait is over folks!  Primeval: New World is coming to Syfy this summer.  Premiering on Saturday, June 8th at 10pm, this newest spin on the Primeval franchise will star "Niall Matter (Eureka), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) and Danny Rahim (Eastenders) as a team of animal experts and scientists investigating paranormal events, while battling both prehistoric and futuristic creatures."

The bummer part of the info (so far), is that there's no mention of Andrew Lee Potts or Hannah Spearritt.

BUT...  Under IMDb, it shows Andrew as showing up in a few episodes ("The Sound of Thunder - Pt. 2" and "The New World.")  But no Hannah.

It will be following up another new series premiering on the same night at 9pm called Sinbad, starring newcomer Elliot Knight.

Yes, these shows are in Syfy's Saturday Night Original Movie time slot.  Also, according the the press release, Amanda Tapping is on board to direct several episodes.

Innocent question:  What do you think are the odds she'll be in the show?  She does always manage to get into things she directs.

- - -

Did you know that Continuum will start season 2 off on Friday, June 7th?  yea, that's pretty soon if you ask me, but hey, who's complaining?

Continuum stars Rachel Nichols as the time traveling cop (not by design, but rather, by accident where she's stuck in some prehistoric time frame called 2013).  Poor girl!

press release:

NEW YORK – March 28, 2013 – Building on the success of acquired original series such as Lost Girl and Continuum, Syfy today announced that Sinbad and Primeval: New World will join the prime time schedule beginning Saturday, June 8.

Debuting at 9PM (ET/PT), the 12-episode Sinbad follows the epic sea journey of the flawed hero Sinbad, played by newcomer Elliot Knight, who embarks on a quest to rid himself of a curse and embrace his destiny, as he is forced to flee from his home town of Basra. On board The Providence, an intriguing band of travelers is thrown together, including taciturn Norwegian sailor Gunnar (Elliot Cowan/Marchlands), agile jewel-thief Rina (Marama Corlett/The Devil’s Double), and haughty and aristocratic Nala (Estella Daniels/Thorne). Completing the ship’s complement is the odd-ball cook (Junix Inocian/The 51st State) and the cerebral doctor Anwar (Dimitri Leonidas/Grange Hill).

Sinbad is a British Sky Broadcasting presentation of An Impossible Pictures Production. Producer is Grainne Marmion. Executive producers are Tim Haines, Sophie Gardiner and Andrew Woodhead. The series is distributed by BBC Worldwide.

Following at 10PM (ET/PT) will be Primeval: New World. The 13-episode series will star Niall Matter (Eureka), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) and Danny Rahim (Eastenders) as a team of animal experts and scientists investigating paranormal events, while battling both prehistoric and futuristic creatures. Amanda Tapping, who starred in the Syfy series Sanctuary, is on board to direct several episodes.

Based on the original series from Impossible Pictures, Primeval: New World’s creative team is led by executive producers Martin Wood (Sanctuary, Stargate: Atlantis) and Gillian Horvath (Sanctuary, Highlander). The spin-off was created by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens (Star Trek: Enterprise, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World) and written by Gillian Horvath, Peter Hume (Charmed, Flash Gordon), Jon Cooksey (The Collector, The Outer Limits), Sarah Dodd (Flashpoint, Arctic Air), Katherine Collins (Endgame), and Judith and Garfield Reeve-Stevens.

Primeval: New World is produced by Omnifilm Entertainment. Executive producers for Ominfilm are Gabriela Schonbach and Michael Chechik. The series is produced and developed in association with Bell Media, German free-to-air broadcaster ProSieben, and UKTV channel Watch, with the participation of the Canadian Media Fund, The Province of British Columbia Film Incentive BC, The Canadian Film & Video Production Tax Credit Program, and British Columbia Film. CBS Primetime Renewals for 2013-2014 TV Season

Today CBS has announced what shows they're renewing for the upcoming 2013-2014 TV season, and it's a huge count of Eighteen TV series being renewed!

Amongst the renewals are  NCIS: LA, Elementary, Person of Interest, Hawaii Five-0, The Mentalist, Blue Bloods, and The Good Wife.  (Remember, NCIS and CSI have already had their renewal notes)

Also, amongst the reality TV fare, is included  The Amazing Race, Survivor and Undercover Boss.

(You can double check me, but I'm not seeing Criminal Minds in the renewal list... a typo?  Other shows not announced for renewal were  CSI: NY, Vegas, Golden Boy  or Rules of Engagement.  Golden Boy doesn't surprise me... non-optimal ratings, being jerked around from night to night to see if it will do better in one spot than that other... never good signs.)

The network has their upfront sessions in May, so we may know more then.  (The upfronts are TV advertiser selling times. Trust me, we'll hear about it then.  Advertisers drop around $10 BILLION PER SEASON on TV ads for you!)

via press release:

Returning Series Showcase the Ratings Success and Programming Depth of Television's

#1 Network in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

CBS announced today it has renewed 18 returning series from television's top-rated lineup for the 2013-2014 broadcast season.

Premiering Monday, April 15 at 10:00PM (Moves to 9:00PM beginning April 29)

In each half-hour of this docu-style series, host George Motz will meet America's best hamburger creators, tour their establishments and find out what goes into making their burger one of the best in the land. In each episode, three of these burger classics Motz has encountered before, but the fourth hamburger is a new burger experience for Motz - a burger he's never tried before but that comes highly recommended by one of his local burger experts. Motz's rules for greatness are tough - fresh ground beef is a must, and most of the burger joints he visits have been around for decades.  But his travels will also take him to some new-school burger spots that are upholding classic burger traditions while putting their own spin on things.  Join Motz as he crisscrosses the country in his quest to keep the all-American hamburger alive and well.

Monday, April 15 10:00PM
“Hollywood Hamburgers – Los Angeles, CA”

George Motz visits classic Los Angeles burger joints that guard the tradition of burgers and their ties to car culture in an ever-changing cityscape. He enjoys meals at the Apple Pan and Pie 'N Burger, two nostalgic favorites known for their burgers as well as their pie. He visits Marty's, one of the few remaining walk-up burger stands in LA, for a Combo, which stacks two American favorites, the burger and the hot dog, right on top of each other. Then, with the help of local burger lover Brad Morris, Motz discovers Charlie's, an old farm-to-table favorite hidden within the Original LA Farmer's Market, and talks burgers with actor/comedian Jeff Garlin. Finally, Motz stops by Irv's, one of his all-time favorite hamburger stands, which is at risk of being forced to close its doors forever if not for support from the mayor of West Hollywood.

Monday, April 22 10:00PM
“Miami’s Cuban Frita – Miami, FL”

George Motz travels to Miami to sample four burgers with various Latin influences. He visits family-owned competitors, El Rey de las Fritas and El Mago de las Fritas, for classic Cuban fritas, which are covered in thinly cut and fried potatoes. Then he goes to the Latin Burger food truck, which is reminiscent of Cuban street vendors and serves up a Latin Macho, consisting of two ground beef and chorizo patties. For a new burger experience, Motz heads to the brand new Pincho Factory for a Nicaraguan-inspired burger framed between two fried plantains instead of a bun. Motz's friend, Sef Gonzalez, nicknamed the 'Burger Beast' joins him on his journey for some burgers and a little Spanish translation.

Monday, April 29 9:00PM
“New Orleans Po’ Boy Burgers”

George Motz visits New Orleans’ most popular burger spots. From the signature Po’ Boy with a twist, to a sizzling burger covered in mushrooms, Motz travels the New Orleans bayou in search of some of the best burgers in America.

These innovations include a compressed air-powered, high jumping, flipping take on the classic Pogo Stick, a wearable robotic exoskeleton straight out of Aliens that gives you super-human strength, and the Seabreacher – a personal watercraft that looks like a shark, and is able to go underwater as well as jump out of it!  Each episode features fascinating characters, fun gadgets and activities as well as a first hand, high-energy experience for host Steve Watson.

Premiering Wednesday, April 10 at 9:00PM & 9:30PM (Special Back-to-Back Premieres)

In the second season of “Toy Hunter,” acclaimed toy dealer and expert Jordan Hembrough continues to travel across America buying and selling great iconic toys.  As Hembrough’s reputation grows, his client list grows to include such celebrities as Gene Simmons of KISS and Danny Bonaduce from the “Partridge Family” – both to be featured this season.  In addition to being challenged with more demanding clients and missions, Hembrough provides more pop culture history to better illuminate the toys’ timelessness and value.  The scope of this toy hunter’s travels expands beyond basements and attics to include toy auctions, flea markets, and storage units.

- - -

Wednesday, April 10 9:00PM
“KISS and Tell”

Jordan Hembrough is approached by his biggest client to date – KISS' bass player, Gene Simmons.  He's tasked Hembrough with finding the rarest of rare KISS memorabilia to add to his collection…which he's been working on for 40 years!  Hembrough must search high and low to find items that Gene doesn't already own.  And he must be willing to pay thousands to get them.

Wednesday, April 10 9:30PM
“Toy Lovers”

Jordan Hembrough and his teammate Steve travel to Virginia in search of some expensive toys to add to their inventories.  After a costly bet is made between the two toy addicts, the hunt begins from storage units to staircases.  A $300 Foghorn Leghorn Bobblehead and rare Blythe doll put one collector in the lead…until a $900 play-set is found.

Wednesday, April 17 9:00PM
“Toy Gamble”

No preview

Wednesday, April 24 9:00PM

Tuesday, April 30 9:00PM
“Fight or Flight”

The MIA team springs to action as two fully-loaded international flights collide on the jet way. As repercussions hit some passengers harder than others, the Beagle Brigade sniffs out a smuggler with unusual cargo.

Calling All Star Wars/Running Fans! Lightsaber Relay Race News

Hey, if you're both a Star Wars fan and a runner, you might be interested in this event from Lucasfilm!

via press release

JULY 9-16

Lightsaber Relay Strikes the California Coast
From Skywalker Ranch To San Diego Comic-Con International

SAN FRANCISCO (MARCH 27, 2013) – On the heels of last year's monumental, first-of-its-kind event, Course of the Force, the lightsaber run that captivated the attention of Star Wars fans around the world, is returning July 9th – 16th, 2013.  Kicking off at the famed Skywalker Ranch, participants will continue the relay run down through San Francisco with several stops along the California coastline before reaching the finish line— arriving just in time for the start of the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con® International convention. Nerdist Industries' founder Chris Hardwick will be back to host the event, with city-stops along the way featuring "Conivals" where fans can celebrate their love of the Saga with live entertainment, expo booths, giveaways and much more.

"Our plan to run at Comic-con screaming with a lightsaber worked beyond our wildest dreams. People showed up! Lots of them! In cosplay! And we were able to grant more than 1000 wishes for Make-A-Wish!" said Chris Hardwick. "Last year we started in Santa Monica, this year, Marin, and hopefully next year Tatooine."

Course of the Force has reteamed with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® chapters of Greater Bay, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego with 100 percent of all runner registration proceeds benefiting the charity.  In 2012, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® had a strong presence during the inaugural event, with Make-A-Wish kids participating in the opening and closing ceremonies of Course of the Force and running in the event.

Given the overwhelming response to the 2012 relay, this year's event is expanding and will cover nearly 500 miles; at the end of the route, Course of the Force will be hosting activities at the Chuck Jones Gallery in San Diego during San Diego Comic-Con International from July 18th - 20th.

Highlights from last year's 136-mile Course of the Force lightsaber run featured a caravan of costumed runners, Jabba the Hutt's Sail Barge and two Yoda-fied RVs traveling down the Pacific Coast Highway.

In addition to helping grant wishes, participants of Course of the Force will run quarter-mile segments down the California coast, passing off the official Course of the Force lightsaber. Registration is now open at Each relay spot is $150, which includes a customized Hasbro lightsaber, exclusive Course of the Force swag bag and the experience of a lifetime.  Runners are encouraged to be creative and wear their best Star Wars gear.

Stuff on Hannibal, Defiance (1st 14 min.), Shark Tank Casting Calls And Summer Premiere Dates...

Hey, if you're going to be watching Hannibal, keep your eye out for Easter Eggs... they're going to be dropping nods to the franchise from Thomas Harris all throughout the series.

TV Summer Premiere Reminders:
Mad Men returns to AMC on April 7th.
Syfy's Merlin SERIES FINALE is set for May 31st.
Falling Skies returns on Sunday, June 9th.
Major Crimes on June 10th.
Rizzoli and Isles, Tuesday, June 18th
Perception also on Tue, June 18th.

Defiance, the First 14 minutes:

The ads for Syfy's Defiance are looking pretty good.  The snippets of game preview, are looking badass.  I don't see any reason for this show not doing well at the TV and game console, as players interact with the franchise via a game.

But time will tell, as always.  Though I do like the story.

There's not much to dislike in this 14-minute trailer.

Defiance premieres April 15, at 9/8c on Syfy

via press release:

Premieres Monday, April 15 at 9PM – Syfy’s highly-anticipated transmedia event Defiance is the first-ever convergence of television and online gaming, featuring an interconnected world between the two mediums as they evolve together into one overall story. The series’ luminous cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Mia Kirshner. Set in the near future, Defiance introduces an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races. In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly-formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully. Each week, viewers will follow an immersive character drama set in the boom-town of Defiance, which sits atop the ruins of St. Louis, MO, while in the game, players will experience the new frontier of the San Francisco Bay area.

The series is executive produced by Kevin Murphy (“Desperate Housewives,” “Caprica,” “Hellcats”), who also serves as showrunner, Michael Taylor (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Rockne O’Bannon (“Farscape”). Scott Stewart (“Legion,” “Priest”) directed the pilot; Michael Nankin will serve as supervising producer/director on the series. Defiance is produced by Universal Cable Productions.

I've only seen the headline snippets, but it would seem that X-Files is headed the route of the comic book, finally getting that "tenth season!"

Sometimes, comics work for franchises.  Ask Joss Whedon.  Firefly, Buffy and Angel have all lived on in that venue.

Hey! A fan is a fan, and fans sometimes will take what they can get.  Right?

Shark Tank is having casting calls!

New Movies This Week (G.I. Joe, The Host and...)

This week new movies coming out in theaters include Dwayne Johnson, Saoirse Ronan,  Jurnee Smollett-Bell and more.

But the somber bit about it all is that the movies this week are all rated PG-13.  Even worse, I was planning on seeing G.I. Joe, but in-laws are coming in on Friday which puts a crimp in THAT plan!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation (Opens Thursday, March 28th)

PG-13 110 min

The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

Director: Jon M. Chu (Step Up franchise)
Cast:  Dwayne Johnson, D.J. Cotrona, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis

Friday, March 29th:
The Host

PG-13 125 min

When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about, proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.

Director: Andrew Niccol (In Time, Gattaca)
Stars: Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger

It looks like early IMDb numbers are rating The Host at a 6.2.

Tyler Perry's Temptation

An ambitious married woman's temptation by a handsome billionaire leads to betrayal, recklessness, and forever alters the course of her life.

Reality Steve, Game of Thrones, Continuum, Spartacus, And Cinema Static's Newsletter

If you one of my five email update recipients, (Receive Email Updates), you might have noticed that my newsletter showed up Tuesday afternoon rather than at 3 to 5 a.m. in the morning, where it used to await for you to see it as you woke up in the morning.  There's a good reason for that.  Well, at least I thought it was.

It seemed that as I do my daily, What's on TV Tonight posts, email recipients weren't seeing that update until the next morning.  Which, if you're an amateur historian, then it was great to see what was going to be on last night.

But I went out on a limb and thought that just maybe, you would want to see the newsletters come in the mid-afternoon, so that if I get to the daily post in a timely fashion, you'd get the information and have it actually be helpful before the shows actually aired.

So there's that.

Since this is a TV/Movie news site, I guess I'll toss in a bit of highly critical news...

Word on the street is that ABC had its lawsuit dropped against the Reality Steve site, the place that has all the Bachelor(ette) spoiler details, months ahead of time, and he's right about 99% of the time.  I guess rather than suing the guy, ABC needs to find its mole.

Game of Thrones season three premiere on HBO will air this weekend, on March 31st.

Syfy's Continuum, (which isn't a bad show at all), will be coming back for a second season, on June 7th, 2013.

Remember, this upcoming Friday episode of Spartacus, is a recap/tribute ep to Crixus.  The next to last episode is the following week, followed by the series finale of Spartacus.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" Looks Doomed, Has the Dark Side Won?

First word on the street was that Disney would be picking up any kind of production for the continuing adventures from Star Wars: The Clone Wars from Cartoon Network.  It made sense to take the very popular animated series and pull it in, under the same production umbrella.

It least it did then.

But it seems that Disney buying up Star Wars was any good for the Clone Wars project.

Seems that Disney is reassigning and laying off staff from the production of this great animated series, which makes the future not look so bright.

In fact GFR is reporting that the future of Lucasfilm Animation is pretty uncertain.

There's some kind of hope on the horizon that there might be some content with 2 story arcs, but if there's a layoff and cancellation, I'm not sure when they'll be presented, or how.

'The Voice' Returned For Season 4 With Some Heart-Jerking Stories

The Voice returned for its fourth season.  New judges Shakira and Usher were the new blood on the panel, though I found myself missing some attributes of Ceelo.

The premiere had all four judges singing a song, which I love, since it shows off their chops.  (Or hip slinging in Shakira's case)

And they got right down to it.

Between Blake, Adam and Shakira, the ribbing and jesting continue.  It's great to see.  Usher on the other hand, seemed like Cool Hand Luke, a bit aloof mostly, looking cool and distant (but not in a bad way, just the cool way).

Regardless, some of the contestants had some pretty powerful,  heart-rending stories.  But the judges never hear these stories.  These are blind auditions, where the judges face away from the contestants as they sing.  No appearances will or should influence their decisions to choose a singer for their teams.

The singing was good, and despite some sad stories, some went home.

This is the same Voice of previous seasons, just with new blood.  We'll see how it goes and if Shakira's team gets filled with all men!!!  LOL.

The Mid-Season Return of 'Revolution,' "The Stand," Took A Daring Turn

Revolution returned from one of the longest mid-season breaks I've ever seen.  Usually when a network gives a show a huge mid-season break, they're not holding their breath on the outcome of the TV ratings.

NBC is still ranting about its ratings status success.  (See note below)  But regardless of the exaggerated chest puffing, the mid-season return of Revolution seemed to have taken a turn for the better.

The Eric Kripke(Supernatural), J.J. Abrams (Anything sci-fi and hot) produced sci-fi series came back with our heroes running for their lives from a powered-up helicopter that Sebastian Monroe (David Lyons) sent out to kill them with.

SPOILERS FOLLOW (Time Shifted viewers beware)

The episode saw Monroe send out his (with that spiffy logo on the nose of his soon-to-be-doomed) helicopter to smite all resistance that he knew of.  Miles (Billy Burke) and Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) went off to find toys to help fight Monroe, encountered some of their own problems, but managed to show up and save a resistance camp.

In the process, Kripke got daring.  Miles tried to down the choppers, but got missiled.  (That's having a missile shot at you, but not having it kill you.)  Then Charlie's (Tracy Spiridakos) brother, Danny (Graham Rogers), stepped up and let loose the shoulder launched missile.

It took out the chopper with the power generator and the second chopper flying nearby, but there was a cost involved.  Danny found himself riddled with bullets from the chopper.

Yes, the very Danny that Charlie spent the entire first half of the season trying to rescue from Capt. Neville, played by Giancarlo Esposito.  (Man, he's awesome in everything he pulls off.)

And top of all this, it seems that maybe, the resistance might have a new member on their team in the form of Neville's son, Nate (JD Pardo).  It seems Nate did not have the stomach for wanton slaughter of innocents.

We'll see how that plot point turns out.

Despite the high-powered names associated with the show, it has to stand on its own two legs in story telling.

There were a few glaring plot flaws, but not so much that detracted from last night's episode of Revolution, "The Stand."

"The Walking Dead" Episode "This Sorrowful Life" - A Review and Reflection

Last night's episode of The Walking Dead, "This Sorrowful Life," was a very powerful, character driven episode that kept me hanging on the edge of my seat.  And what I'm about to chat about could be considered spoiler-based if you're a time shifted viewer.

Be it as it may, last night we came into the episode with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) plotting to capture Michonne (Dannai Gurira), and turn her over to the evil, twisted man we call the Governor (David Morrissey).  You know that Rick only has the best intentions for the group in mind, but can he really go through with this?  This is crazy stuff, and yet, there he is plotting with Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Hershel (Scott Wilson).  Neither of them like it, but the arguments of humanity can't seem to outweigh the safety and future of this group of survivors that have stayed together for this long.

But then Rick needs help.  He's not quite up to this and asks Merle (Michael Rooker) for help.  Merle laughs in his face, while dispensing advice on just how to capture Michonne.  For instance, use wire to tie her up so she can't chew through it.  Rick walks away, weighing things out in his mind.

But Merle had his own plan in action, captures Michonne himself and drags her towards Woodbury.  But Michonne talks his ear off and then they find themselves in a situation with walkers.  I'm not sure at what point Merle changed his mind, or if it was changed. Was this his plan all along?

Meanwhile, Rick changed his mind about giving up Michonne, but no one can find her... and then they all realize that Merle took her for himself to work a deal with the Governor.  Daryl goes after them.

Merle lets Michonne go and heads towards the meeting place with the Governor, leading a pack of zombies behind him.  It's rather ingenious to blast a radio and drive dog slow, as he collected a healthy herd of walkers.  And as the walkers invade the meeting spot, the Governor's men open fire to defend themselves.  All the while, Merle is taking one shot after the other, taking down the men.  No one is noticing in the rukus that a single shot is taking out men.  That is, until one errant shot is deflected.  The one meant for the Governor himself, and the tide changes rapidly for Merle.

I had always thought of Merle as a tough son-of-a-bitch, but the Governor wipes the floor with him and I was sorely disappointed.  Not only disappointed, but saddened when the Governor shoots him.

But the heart wrenching moment that came at the viewer later on, was when Daryl happened across the slaughter scene.  And he finds his walker brother.  And Rooker played this walker to such a degree that you could swear he was in there, while he was shambling towards Daryl.

It was a heart wrenching moment and Daryl had the hardest time putting him down.

This is only conjecture on my part, but this event may put Daryl on the Governor's case, and could mean the end for the evil, lying tyrant.

It was a touch episode to watch, not knowing for sure what Rick was going to do.  And then watching Merle take the lead, and you're still now sure what's up.  Not until this Grinch finally did grow a heart, and sadly, pay the ugly price of going up against the Governor.  But in the end, Daryl paid the ultimate price.  It's a rough world he lives in.  Let's see what kind of motivation these set of events create.  It could be a most satisfying end to the Governor.  But then again, he keeps dodging that bullet these last few episodes.  Grr.

Trailer for Batman Documentary Rallies Fan Support (Check This Out Before Walking Away)

If you can take a mere four minutes of your time, check out this piece... and if anything else, check out the video alone.  I touched me and I think it just might touch you.

Trailer for Batman Documentary Rallies Fan Support
The trailer for the new documentary film "Legends of the Knight" has debuted online, and hundreds of fans around the world have joined together to fund the not-for-profit film.
Since its launch, the Trailer for the film "Legends of the Knight" has over 100,000 views on YouTube. The film explores the inspirational impact of Batman and the power of heroic storytelling.
The official Trailer can be viewed at:

Over 850 supporters have financially contributed to make the film possible. The funding campaign on Kickstarter ( met its initial goal of $31,850 within 48 hours.
"Batman has become contemporary mythology," producer/director Brett Culp said. "We want to show how enduring stories like this shape us. Our goal is to inspire everyone on the planet who loves Batman to embody his spirit, engage with the world, and make a difference. Together, we are Batman."
Culp is a life-long Batman fan. Over the past year, he and his team have filmed stories in 12 cities, recording 48 interviews. They captured the stories of individuals whose love of the Dark Knight has inspired them to overcome devastating obstacles, to motivate and encourage young people, and to contribute to their communities.
Well-known Batfans who appear in the film include:
  • Michael Uslan - executive producer of "Batman", "Batman Begins", "The Dark Knight", and "The Dark Knight Rises"
  • Denny O'Neil - legendary Batman writer
  • Lenny B Robinson - visits children's hospitals around the country as Batman
  • Jill Pantozzi (The Nerdy Bird) – Superhero journalist with the spirit of the Caped Crusader
  • Rabbi Cary Friedman - author, "Wisdom from the Batcave"
  • Dr. Travis Langley - author, "Batman & Psychology"; teacher of university course in psychology called "Batman"
  • Gotham Chopra - co-author, "Seven Spiritual Laws of Superheroes"; son of best-selling author Deepak Chopra
"Human beings have always been stirred to greatness by the tales of heroes," Culp said. "We connect with Batman because he is the super hero with no super powers. Just as he has committed himself to making the world better, we can dedicate ourselves to a noble cause and make a difference. This type of inspiration is a core function of storytelling in society."
The production team for "Legends of the Knight" is currently raising funds through Kickstarter to finish the film. The 30-day funding campaign gives supporters of the project the opportunity to pre-order copies of the finished film and other incentives as a way of funding this documentary project.
In the spirit of Batman, all revenues generated by the completed film that are beyond production, screening, distribution, and administrative costs will be donated to charitable organizations.
Release date will be Summer 2013.

'The Biggest Loser' Season 14 Winner Was...

The 14th season of The Biggest Loser came down to Jackson, Jeff and Danni in the final weigh-off of the season.

Everyone looked wonderful compared to not only their original appearance, but just in general.

The 2-hour season finale had a lot of filler content, but for the fan of the show, that wasn't an issue at all.

First up, was the battle of the ejected contestants from throughout the season.  Or, the "At Home" contestants.

After all was said and done, Gina won the "At Home" continuing weight loss contest, having lost 46.1% of her initial weight.  (Actually, kudos to everyone, they all win because right now, they're all much healthier than when they started out.)

Loser Start End Lost Percent
Pam 237 166 71 29.96%
Nathan 359 260 99 27.58%
Alex 240 156 84 35.00%
Francine 267 172 95 35.58%
TC 376 266 110 29.26%
Michael 444 308 136 30.63%
Cate 237 173 64 27.00%
Lisa 246 138 108 43.90%
David 307 205 102 33.22%
Gina 245 132 113 46.12% < At Home Winner
Joe 364 217 147 40.38%

But in the end, betwen our three finalists, Danni rocked the both by barely edging out Jeff with a total body weight loss of 46.90%.  Look at the chart below and you'll see what I mean by edging out.  It was close!

Loser Start End Lost Percent
Jackson 328 190 138 42.07%
Jeff 388 207 181 46.65%
Danni 258 137 121 46.90%

For the detractors:

Yes, the weight loss we see during The Biggest Loser is unrealistically achieved because no "regular Joe" has the kind of time or assistance to work at this kind of lifestyle change.

But many of the contestants in the show who went home, got their family members involved and we saw reports of how much weight they lost at home too.

The bottom line, lifestyle changes in how one approaches their diet and some form or regime of exercise can help reduce health-threatening conditions for anyone.

"WIPEOUT" – PREMIERES THURSDAY, MAY 9 (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

As summer temperatures heat up, quirky contestants go down! This season "Wipeout" will hit the 100th episode milestone, and we'll be celebrating all season long with brand new, over-the-top courses and the return of Jill Wagner to the "Wipeout" family. We'll have lots of special episodes, including Dirty Jobs, Newlyweds, Exes, Beauty Queens and Brains VS Brawn. Also returning are favorite specials featuring Families, Boss & Employee, Hotties VS Nerds and Blind Date. The infamous Big Balls make their return, along with new obstacles such as Octopushy, Space Pod of Doom and The Miami Pound Machine. The series will be hosted by John Anderson (ESPN's "SportsCenter"), John Henson (E! Entertainment's "Talk Soup") and co-hosted by Jill Wagner (MTV's "Teen Wolf"). "Wipeout" executive producers are Matt Kunitz ("101 Ways to Leave a Game Show," "Fear Factor") and Scott Larsen. Kevin Wehrenberg, Trice Barto and J. Rupert Thompson are co-executive producers. The series is produced by Endemol USA. David Goldberg is the chairman of Endemol North America.

This season the hit romance reality series will feature its ninth edition with the lucky new Bachelorette – Desiree Hartsock -- getting to know 25 fortunate men via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates, some in groups, some individually. She will introduce some of the men to her family and will visit their hometowns for a slice of their lives in an effort to determine the man with whom she is most compatible. At the end of the journey, filled with drama and surprises against the backdrop of spectacular international settings and featuring innovative twists and special guest stars, the Bachelorette may quite possibly have found true love. But the big question is: After all of this, will she hand out her final rose? And if she does, will the final bachelor accept it and propose? Hosted by Chris Harrison, "The Bachelorette" is a production of Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss and Martin Hilton are the executive producers.

When murder is committed, Angie Flynn, a loving, single mother and a damned good detective, along with her partner, Detective Oscar Vega, are on the case, looking for clues that will lead them to the killer. But "Motive" turns the tried-and-true crime drama formula on its head by identifying the Killer and Victim at the beginning of each episode. These storylines are then further explored via stylized flashbacks that piece together the mysterious connection between these two characters and what drove the Killer to commit murder. "Rookie Blue" – Premieres THURSDAY, MAY 23 (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

A group of young and ambitious rookie cops continue to navigate the emotional trials and tribulations of their professional and personal lives. After three years on The Job, these rookies are well on their way to becoming experienced officers, but at what cost? It's been six months since Andy McNally and Nick Collins left for their undercover operation. We return to 15 Division with them – and quickly realize that everything seems to have changed. But that's what being a cop is: adjusting to new situations, rolling with the punches. Change is constant, and if you don't adapt, you're left behind. So when Andy returns to find that Sam Swarek is now a Detective and that he's moved on, both professionally and personally, she's going to have to figure out how to deal with it. Meanwhile, Dov's life gets awkward when a one-night stand with Frank's goddaughter becomes more complicated; Chris is torn between staying at 15 Division and moving his new family back to his smaller, safer hometown; Traci is learning to work with new detective Swarek, while trying to move on from the loss of her fiancé, Jerry Barber; And although Nick and Gail have cemented their relationship, Nick can't seem to shed the feeling that all is not right between them. Last season our officers got what they wanted and had to deal with the repercussions. This year they will have to look change right in the eye and learn to adapt -- leaving them with some big, bold choices to make.
